The American Urological Association (AUA) is searching for an editor for The Journal of Urology®. The Official Journal of the American Urological Association, and the most widely read and highly cited journal in the field, The Journal of Urology® brings solid coverage of the clinically relevant scientific content needed to stay at the forefront of the dynamic field of urology. This premier journal presents investigative studies on critical areas of research and practice, survey commentaries providing short condensations of the best and most important urology literature worldwide, and practice-oriented articles on significant clinical observations. The Journal of Urology® covers the wide scope of adult, basic research and pediatric urology.
The incoming Editor will work with a group of Associate, Section, Assistant and Feature Editors, an Editorial Board and the AUA Board of Directors to continue to fulfill the mission of The Journal: To provide the medical profession with timely peer-reviewed clinical and scientific contributions in urology which educate, stimulate and expand practice and research activities, ultimately impacting on excellence in patient care.
The ideal candidate must be an AUA Member, active in the practice of Urology with broad knowledge of the specialty, including experience/knowledge of working in academic and private practices. The Editor must possess publication experience and knowledge of current practices in the publishing industry as he/she will be responsible for making recommendations pertaining to improved dissemination of clinical scientific content, advising the Editors and Editorial Board members on matters of editorial policy, and coordinating editorial activities with the AUA Publications Department staff in regard to The Journal. The Editor must be able to continue to offer the fastest possible speed of publication without compromising quality.
The term of the Editor is expected to begin July 1, 2015. The Editor’s term will be for three years, renewable for a total of six years.
