The American Urological Association encourages medical and graduate medical education, university programs and private practice organizations to have appropriate and explicit family leave policies for students, residents, fellows and practicing physicians. Academic and private urologic groups are encouraged to make available less than full-time options and flexible work schedules to accommodate child rearing, elder care and to foster career-long opportunities that will aid all urologists, regardless of gender, to balance professional and personal obligations.
