Government Relations and Advocacy Manager
This position will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. This position reports to the Director of Government Relations and Advocacy, Health Policy, working within a team environment with AUA staff and membership to promote the federal portion of the AUA’s legislative agenda. The Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with members of Congress and their staff, appropriate federal agencies, and allied organizations and coalitions. This will require frequent interactions with these offices. The manager will also monitor, track, and analyze federal legislation and regulatory policy that affect the AUA’s government relations and advocacy agenda. This position is actively engaged in the formation and implementation of an annual advocacy conference and integrated message development for communicating the association’s objectives to internal and external audiences. The Manager will prepare and present advocacy updates, presentations, talking points and position papers, and other tools to integrate and implement the organization’s priorities into legislative programming and report successes to the leadership and members.
A Bachelor’s degree is required, graduate degree preferred, in political science, public health, public policy, or other relevant area. Strong public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong research, analytical, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential; a demonstrated ability to develop a rapport with others while demonstrating tact and diplomacy is critical, and must be able to exercise sound judgment in sharing and communicating information internally and externally. Solid knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes needed, 5 years progressively responsible experience required, preferably in federal government, legislature, and/or health-related organization. Strong time management skills are required to meet rapidly shifting deadlines on multiple projects. Must be able to work independently and in collaboration to produce accurate and well-composed work under tight deadlines.

Member Services Specialist
We are looking for an individual who is creative and an out-of-the-box thinker to develop promotional communications for recruitment and retention activities within the Member Services Department. This individual will also possess excellent writing skills in order to develop and implement member communications and promotions, such as fliers, brochures and Web content. Marketing skills are a plus to assist with promoting our on-line career center. Other primary functions include: coordinating communications with AUA’s residency programs and production of AUA’s affinity programs; providing secondary customer service support to the AUA Call Center as necessary; and supporting all other department member/customer service efforts as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree preferred and excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience coordinating projects, preferably in member associations. Marketing experience helpful. Candidate must be able to multi task and function well in a team environment. Some travel required.

Medical Librarian
Serves as primary staff liaison to AUA staff and guideline document panels by providing expert direction for literature searches. Performs detailed literature searches to identify articles pertinent to urologic topics; assesses articles to determine quality and level of evidence. Responsible for researching and analyzing medical literature used for guideline development including continuous updating of all guideline products with supervision by the Director of Guidelines. Performs reference checking of guideline and other AUA documents. Formats guideline documents for submission to the Journal of Urology. Collaborates with Director of Guidelines to develop topic nominations for systematic reviews for submission to AHRQ, and supports other AUA departments by performing high priority literature assessments of clinical topics as needed in response to federal or outside urgent requests. Works independently with minimal supervision by the Director of Guidelines. Works collaboratively with Guidelines staff members and consultants.
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS). Must have proficient level computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Must have expertise in the use of bibliographic database systems, including: National Library of Medicine (PubMed), National Guideline Clearinghouse and Cochrane Library. Knowledge of project management. Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and systematic review. Ability to multi task, strong organizational skills with attention to detail as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Overnight travel and occasional weekend work may be required.

Customer Service Associate III
Serves as point person for incoming calls from customers using both customer service and data entry skills. Facilitates group registration process, troubleshoots customer service calls, and provides administrative assistance to Customer Service Manager and other customer service associates with group registration.
The successful candidate will preferably have an Associates degree or some college. Candidate will have three to five years administrative/customer service experience. Data entry experience required (8,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hr) Accurate typing (45-50 wpm). Some filing experience preferred. Must have experience working independently (self starter) or in a team atmosphere. Must also have proficient skill level of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel. Willingness and availability to travel to Annual Meeting.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Compliance Coordinator
Responsible for establishing, maintaining and implementing the CME compliance process for the American Urological Association Education and Research and is the Compliance Officer for all AUA activities bearing CME credits. Establishes, maintains and ensures documentation for ACCME reaccreditation, self study, annual year-end reports are prepared and filed on-time.
Creates and coordinates the development of needs assessment and outcomes measurement with assistance from the CME course directors and faculty, and the AUA Research Director. Produces and implements evaluation tools. Oversees compliance with ACCME Essential Areas and Elements, Policies, and Standards for Commercial Support. Assists in the development of and performs reviews, provides final approval of CME information, and educational content for all CME activities sponsored by the AUA which include live, enduring materials, journal-based, Internet, and electronic media formats. Staff liaison to Content Review Committee. Supervises the Education Program and Grants LOA Coordinator and other staff as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, medical background preferred. The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years progressive work experience in administering CME compliance. Must have a broad understanding of ACCME regulations and requirements. Staff management experience preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with excellent organizational skills. Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to travel to the Annual Meeting and other weekend meetings, throughout the year.
