Health Care Reform Comparison

Dr. William F. Gee Represents the AUA During Round-table in Washington

Dr. William F. Gee was asked by the AUA’s Health Policy Chair David Penson, MD, to represent the AUA at a round-table discussion concerning Physician Specialists and Delivery-System Reform on October 5, 2012. The meeting was held in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House. The meeting was not political, but rather the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reaching out to specialists regarding their thoughts on the impact of many new rules and regulations on specialty physicians. Administration officials included four of the top decision makers in CMS. Twenty physicians, each accompanied by one of their staff, attended the meeting; also included were umbrella groups such as the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. The meeting lasted for approximately two-and-a-half hours.
