The AUA's advocacy efforts are varied to ensure that the interests of our members are made known to a wide array of decision makers. Whether we are contacting lawmakers on Capitol Hill or federal officials in government agencies, we are supporting and defending the practice of urology.
In addition to our independent advocacy activities, we often join with other like-minded organizations and specialty societies, collaborating on issues of mutual interest and concern. These efforts are especially important in both legislative and regulatory matters.
Member involvement is critical to advocacy. Get involved and get the tools and information you need to join your fellow urologists and urologic professionals in advocating for change.

Joint Advocacy Conference
The Urology Joint Advocacy Conference (JAC), cosponsored by the American Urological Association (AUA) and the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU) is the only national advocacy conference devoted to protecting and promoting the interests of urologists and their patients.
The annual conference, held in Washington, DC, hosts speakers ranging from academic urologists, to government employees, to elected officials. It will feature grassroots lobbying training for those new to the process and provide each participant with an opportunity to meet with elected officials and their staff.
Each year, this conference is attended by more than 150 urologists, residents and other healthcare professionals, and focuses on urology’s top legislative priorities. All members of the AACU and AUA, including residents, fellows and students, are encouraged to attend the JAC.
