Register Now for Open Payments and Download Mobile App
Physicians wishing to review and potentially dispute financial disclosures posted on Open Payments must set up a username and password in the CMS’ Enterprise Portal. This is the first step in the two-phase registration process for the first reporting year. While registration is voluntary, it is required in order to access the Open Payments website. Registering for the Enterprise Portal gives physicians access to the Open Payments system. This may be the only opportunity for physicians to review payments prior to publication to the general public and dispute any payments reported inaccurately unless direct contact from industry is offered. Industry is not mandated to contact each physician to verify payment, even though it is recommended by CMS.
What You Can Do Now

In July, you will be able to register in Open Payments, and review payments and other transfers of value posted by industry. The AUA urges members to complete Phase 1 of the registration process now because you will have only 45 days from the time of notice to verify the accuracy of the information posted and initiate a dispute if necessary.
Physicians can learn more about Open Payments requirements by reviewing the Program Overview for Physicians. Continuing education materials relating to Open Payments are available on the Physician page of the Open Payments website. CMS has also developed a brochure about the program to be shared with patients. For more information about Open Payments, please visit the Open Payments website.
Download Next Generation Mobile App
In the past week, an updated version of the Open Payments Mobile for Physicians has launched and includes the following new features, among others:
Capability to sort and filter payments or transfers of value (by date, dollar amount, vendor, year, or company),
Enhanced tablet layout,
Ability to drill-down to specific payment information in bar and pie charts, and
Quick scan QR code functionality that allows QR code scans from outside the app (without logging into the app).
The app is voluntary and free for use, and can be downloaded at the Google Play app store or iOSApple app store. At either store, search for “Open Payments."
If you have already downloaded the app, you will need to run an update to take advantage of the new app functionality; visit either the Google Play™ app store or iOSApple™ app store, look for your available updates, and select the Open Payments apps to download the updates. Note that you will not lose any data you have entered into the old version of the app; it will all be transferred into the new version of the app.
If you have not yet downloaded the app, search for Open Payments in the applicable app store and you will be prompted to download the newly updated versions. More information on the app can be found on the Open Payments website.
For help with the app or if you have any questions about Open Payments, you submit an email to the Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
