Anton J. Bueschen, MD

Anton J. Bueschen, MD

Anton J. Bueschen, MD, served as director of the Division of Urology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) beginning in 1975 and is now professor emeritus of urology at UAB. He also served as president and chairman of the board of the UAB faculty practice, the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation. Dr. Bueschen served as president of the Southeastern Section of the AUA in 2002, and before that as secretary of the Section. He served as Southeastern Section Representative to the AUA Board of Directors and as chair of the AUA Compensation Committee, Education Council and several other AUA committees. Dr. Bueschen also served on the board of directors of the former American Foundation for Urologic Disease (currently the AUA Foundation). He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1965 and has been a member of the AUA since 1974.

Datta Wagle, MD

Datta Wagle, MD

Dr. Wagle is currently the chief of urology at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus in Buffalo, NY. He received his urology training at Roswell Park Memorial Institute and the Cleveland Clinic after receiving his medical degree from Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Wagle has served as president for the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the Northeastern Section of the AUA, New York State Urological Society, Medical Society of the County of Erie, St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Staff and the Buffalo Urological Society. He is a member of 21 national and international organizations and has served on 15 different medical boards and 79 various committees. Dr. Wagle received the Northeastern Section of the AUA's Distinguished Service Award in 1999. He has authored over 100 publications including journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Wagle has been a member of the AUA since 1973.

John M. Barry, MD

John M. Barry, MD, is the Director of Kidney Transplantation at Oregon Health and Science University, where he was chief of the Division of Urology and Renal Transplantation for 29 years. His professional interests are kidney transplantation, surgical diseases of the kidney, erectile dysfunction and reconstructive urology.

Dr. Barry is past president of the American Board of Urology and served as president of the Western Section of the AUA in 2002. He has more than 300 publications in the fields of urology and renal transplantation. Dr. Barry has been a member of the AUA since 1979.

Robert C. Flanigan, MD

Robert C. Flanigan, MD

Robert C. Flanigan, MD, is a professor and chair of urology at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. Dr. Flanigan has served on the Graduate Medical Education, Education, Program and Socioeconomic committees of the AUA. He has been on the editorial board of The Journal of Urology® and is also a reviewer for the publication. In addition to the AUA, Dr. Flanigan is a member of numerous other professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons (of which he is presently a governor), the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons and the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons. He was also a founder and the first president of the Society of Urologic Chairpersons and Program Directors, and a former president of the American Board of Urology, the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Society of University Urologists, the Society of Pelvic Surgeons, the North Central Section of the AUA and the Chicago Urological Society. Dr. Flanigan has been a member of the AUA since 1982.

Glenn Preminger, MD

Glenn Preminger, MD

Dr. Preminger received his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1977 and completed his urology residency at the University of North Carolina in 1983. Dr. Preminger spent 10 years on the faculty in the Departments of Urology, Medicine and Radiology at University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School. In 1993, Dr. Preminger returned to North Carolina as Professor of Urologic Surgery, Director of the Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center and Director of the Urology Residency Program at Duke University Medical Center. His primary clinical interests include the minimally invasive management of urinary tract stones including shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous and ureteroscopic stone removal. Dr. Preminger is actively involved in research regarding advanced imaging technologies for minimally invasive urologic surgery, including high definition television, three-dimensional imaging and virtual reality surgical simulation. Dr. Preminger has published more than 300 manuscripts, 100 book chapters and 8 books, as well as 30 videotapes that review complex endoscopic techniques. He has had a longstanding relationship with the AUA and its Sections and has served as Chair of the AUA’s Education Council since 1996. Dr. Preminger has been a member of the AUA since 1986.

Richard A. Memo, MD

Richard A. Memo, MD is a practicing urologist at the NEO Urology Associates, Inc. in Youngstown, OH. Currently, Dr. Memo serves on the AUA Compensation Committee. He was president-elect of the North Central Section in 2000. In addition, he was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as past-president of the Ohio Urological Society. Dr. Memo has been an AUA member since 1981.

Sakti Das, MD

Sakti Das, MD

Historian, 5/25/06 - 6/2/10

Sakti Das, MD was a staff urologist at Northern California Kaiser Permanente for 20 years and is a retired professor of urology from the University of California, Davis. As the historian for the Western Section, Dr. Das was instrumental in setting up a museum of historical antiquities at the section's headquarters. As a member of the AUA History Committee, Dr. Das worked with the past AUA historian and curator of the William P. Didusch Center for Urologic History to expand the collections. He has edited eight urological textbooks, contributed more than 200 publications, has experience as a reviewer for The Journal of Urology® and has created numerous award-winning medical films. In addition to the AUA, Dr. Das is a member of the Northern California Urological Society and the Indian American Urological Association. Dr. Das has been an AUA member since 1984.

Thomas J. Rohner, Jr., MD

Mid-Atlantic Section Representative, 5/25/06 - 6/2/10

Thomas J. Rohner, Jr., MD is emeritus professor of urology at Penn State College of Medicine at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. During his career he has published more than 100 papers and book chapters. He has held a number of positions in leading urologic organizations, including service on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Residency Review Committee for Urology and the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons. He is an emeritus trustee and former vice president of the American Board of Urology and past president of the Society of University Urologists. Dr. Rohner has been a member of the AUA since 1972.

Dr. Green is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine and completed his post-graduate training in urology at Yale University. Following his residency, Dr. Green was an AUA Scholar and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Yale. Dr. Green is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a Member in the American College of Physician Executives and a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. Currently, Dr. Green is senior partner at Concord Hospital’s Center for Urologic Care in Concord, NH, where he has practiced since 1987. Dr. Green is also the Chief Medical Officer at Concord Hospital, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School. Over the past two decades Dr. Green has served in several capacities with the New England Section (State Representative, Secretary, President and AUA Long Range Planning Committee) and the AUA (Bylaws, Manpower and Public Relations Committees). Dr. Green has been a member of the AUA since 1987.

Pramod C. Sogani, MD

Dr. Sogani is a professor of clinical urology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and an attending surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He has served as treasurer and president of the New York Section of the AUA and is a member of 25 national and international medical societies. He is a fellow of American College of Surgeons and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as the recipient of the 2006 John K. Lattimer Award of Excellence in Urology. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and many book chapters. He is a past recipient of the Sasruta Award of Excellence in Urology of the Indian American Urological Association. Dr. Sogani earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College in India and has been a member of the AUA since 1983.

Dr. Pessis is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Chicago Medical School. He completed his urological residency in 1978 at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. Dr. Pessis joined the Rush faculty following his residency, earning the rank of professor in 2003. He also currently serves as Associate Chairman of the Department of Urology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Pessis has more than 20 publications and 100 presentations to his credit, spanning the full spectrum of urologic conditions. He has held numerous positions with local, regional and national medical societies, including the AUA and the North Central Section, for which he served as Treasurer (1999-2004), President (2006-2007) and on countless committees. Dr. Pessis has been a member of the AUA since 1982.

Kevin Pranikoff, MD

Kevin Pranikoff, MD

Dr. Pranikoff is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Florida Medical School. After two years of general surgical training at the Jewish Hospital of Saint Louis at Washington University and two years in the navy, Dr. Pranikoff completed his urology residency in 1979 at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. Dr. Pranikoff is an Associate Professor of Urology and Rehabilitation Medicine and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University at Buffalo. He also serves as Clinical Director of Urology at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. His clinical and research interests include neurourology, urologic trauma and reconstructive urology and geriatric urology. Dr. Pranikoff has served in countless leadership roles for local, regional and national professional organizations, including the Northeastern Section of the AUA (Secretary, President-elect and President). He has been a member of the AUA since 1981.

Charles W. Logan, MD has practiced with Arkansas Urology since 1967. In addition to the AUA, he is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the Arkansas Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, the Arkansas Medical Society, the Pulaski County Medical Society, the Pediatric Urological Association and the Arkansas State Urological Society. He is past president of the Arkansas Medical Society, the American Association of Clinical Urology and the AUA's South Central Section. Dr. Logan currently serves as a delegate to the AMA for the American College of Surgeons, and has been an AUA member since 1971.

B. Thomas Brown, MD, FACS, practices with Atlantic Urological Associates, a professional corporation of physicians and one of the largest and most prominent urology practices in the southeast United States. Dr. Brown has held various professional appointments throughout his career, including chair of the Committee on Applicants for the American College of Surgeons, and chair for the Department of Urology at both Halifax Medical Center and Memorial Hospital. Dr. Brown has served two years as chair of the AUA Judicial and Ethics Council. In addition to being certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Brown is also a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has been a member of the AUA since 1980.

John C. Prince, MD practiced urology for more than 30 years in Santa Ana, CA. He currently teaches and serves in the clinic at Loma Linda University Medical School.

A past recipient of the AUA Gold Cane Award, he holds a medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and completed his urology residency at Orange County General Hospital. Dr. Prince has been a member of the AUA since 1974.

Executive Director

Mr. Sheppard has been with the American Urological Association for 12 years. Prior to becoming executive director of the Association, Mr. Sheppard held several high-level positions, including director of finance, director of finance and information systems, chief operating officer and deputy executive director. He has numerous professional affiliations, including memberships with the American Society of Association Executives, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, the Institute of Management Accountants Association and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Sheppard received his master’s degree in business administration from Loyola College's Sellinger School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Association Executive. Mr. Sheppard is the recipient of several awards, including the Institute of Internal Auditors Award and the Towson University Accounting Academic Excellence Award. He is a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and the recipient of many military honors as a retiree of the United States Naval Reserves.
