Guidelines Medical Writer/Editor
The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting a Guidelines Medical Writer/Editor.
Serves as medical editor on all guidelines, including reference checking and copy editing. Writes Health Policy articles, pocket guides and other products. Candidate will assist panel managers with peer review process, including recording comments and preparing reports. Serves as backup on some literature searches.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree. Master's degree in Health Education, Public Health or other health/clinical related field preferred. Medical writer/editor. Demonstrated work experience in Guideline development preferred. Must have proficient level computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Must have familiarity with web conferencing and electronic review processes. Knowledge of Reference Manager Software and Endnote desirable. Ability to multi task, strong organizational skills with attention to detail as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. One to two years experience working with committees of physicians or other professionals. Overnight travel and occasional weekend work may be required.

Coding Specialist
The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting an experienced Medical Coding Specialist.
Responsibilities include: staffing the AUA Coding Hotline and provides prompt and accurate answers to urology coding questions. Assists in activities educating AUA leaders, members, and practice managers on issues related to coding, reimbursement and payer policies. Performs research and gives responses to urologic and quality coding, reimbursement and policy inquiries received from members, their staff, or others.
The successful candidate will possess a National coding certification. Candidate must have a high school diploma, Associates degree preferred and three to five years medical coding office experience, preferably in urology. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel. Must be diligent in giving advice only in line with current government regulations and laws. Must be able to travel to Coding seminars (up to 3 days duration) and the Annual Meeting (up to 8 days duration) each year. Must have willingness to take ownership for own work and must be flexible and customer focused. Must have ability to work independently or as a member of the Health Policy Team. Must be available to work Monday through Friday and be available for occasional weekend and/or extended hours as required.

Office of Education Director
The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting for an experienced Office of Education Director.
Major responsibilities include: visionary leadership and strategic planning in urologic education for physicians and staff; develops education program in coordination with the Chair of Education; oversight of Department of Education; responsible for financial success and stability of department programs; oversight of budget preparation and maintenance by managers; supervision of education and examination managers; actively participates in the Annual Meeting scientific programming with the Chair of Education and AUA Secretary; oversight and liaison to various AUA committees and task forces; represents AUA Education in professional organizations. Develops strategy with AUA leadership and staff to meet educational needs of urologists through a life-long learning curriculum. Develops with physicians and committee leadership modules and curriculum for Maintenance of Certification based on RRC and ABU guidelines; oversees ACCME compliance and ensures guidelines are dispersed throughout organization.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree. A minimum of 8-10 years proven strategic planning, management and administrative experience. Knowledge of and experience with adult continuing education including needs assessment, evaluation, educational design, faculty development, curricula design, and educational research required. Knowledge and experience in the development and execution of collaborative, innovative, curriculum-based educations initiatives. Familiarity with standards for ACCME accreditation, AMA PRA and PhRMA and FDA guidelines. Dynamic leader with excellent interpersonal and external relations skills and experience interacting with physicians. Demonstrated experience in leading and working in a cross-functional collaborative team environment, with the ability to address problems and opportunities in a well organized and systematic manner. Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills; familiarity with medical terminology is a plus. Must be organized, diplomatic, creative and efficient in overseeing, delegating and managing multiple activities and projects. Strong decision-making background with follow-up skills and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Travel – first year 40%, subsequent years, approximately 30%.

Sr. Manager – Outreach Programs
The American Urological Association (AUA) Foundation is the leading national urology health foundation and the official Foundation of the American Urological Association. We are actively recruiting for a Sr. Manager- Outreach Programs. Our office is located near Baltimore Washington International Airport in Linthicum, Maryland.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the American Urological Association (AUA) Foundation. Supervises Outreach/Patient Education staff and works closely with the volunteer Outreach Council and Council Chair. Develops programs, products and services with the goal that the AUA Foundation becomes the undisputed source for accurate, reputable urology patient education information. Oversee and direct Program strategy and lead the effort to expand the Foundation's outreach associated with urologic patient/public information for education and advocacy purposes. Work closely with AUAF and AUA departments in enhancing current educational programs and materials, as well as creating new initiatives and opportunities.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred with experience in healthcare communications, business, social service or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in program development in advocacy, awareness, education or related initiatives in a nonprofit health agency.
- Business experience including financial planning, budgets, grants, new business development and program evaluation.
- Experience working with a governing board as well as volunteers.
- Minimum 8 years experience in staff supervision and evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills. Public speaking experience is required.
- Highly motivated and organized.
- Internet, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database proficiency required.
- Travel is required.
