Online Guideline Topic Submission
The AUA welcomes interested members to nominate future guideline topics. Recently, several changes in the guideline development process have been instituted, resulting in shorter timelines and less cost for guideline production. By streamlining the process and maintaining scientific rigor, AUA now has the opportunity to consider new guideline topics while updating existing guidelines. The AUA is seeking input from members on what urologic topics should be considered.The submitted topics will be evaluated by the Practice Guidelines Committee (PGC) based on the following explicit selection criteria:
- importance and relevance of the topic to urology;
- availability and quality of scientific data to support the systematic review and analysis of the topic;
- burden of the disease, including severity, incidence, prevalence, etc.;
- potential impact for reducing clinically significant variations in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or management of disease;
- priority populations addressed, such as: low-income groups, minority groups, women, children, the elderly, and individuals with special health care needs, such as those with disabilities or in need of chronic care, or who live in inner-city and rural areas.
The Guideline Topic template must be used to nominate new topics. Topics must be submitted by January 31st in order to be reviewed for consideration by the PGC and Board of Directors (BOD) at the AUA Annual Meeting in the spring. The submitted form will be completed by AUA staff and reviewed by AUA staff and the PGC using the above criteria. It is expected that new topics will be evaluated, possibly revised, and selected at the AUA Annual Meeting. PGC-approved topics will then be submitted to the AUA BOD for approval.
After completing the form, please click "Submit" to complete the process. Additional information regarding your topic nomination, or a list of references to accompany your topic nomination should be submitted to Kadiatu Kebe, Guidelines Associate, at kkebe@auanet.org. Inquiries about your submission should also be sent to Kadiatu. Please enter "Guideline topic submission" in the subject line of your email inquiry.
