The Government Relations and Advocacy (GR&A) Department's overarching goals are to increase the visibility of urology on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies, to mobilize our members to understand and support urology's essential advocacy efforts, and to set realistic expectations among our busy physicians for the pace of accomplishments in the governmental arena. The AUA's Washington DC office provides the GR&A staff with unparalleled access to Capitol Hill, which strengthens the AUA's visibility on Capitol Hill, and advances our advocacy capabilities. All of the Government Relations and Advocacy operations are conducted in concert with the physician-led Legislative Affairs Committee, which helps set the annual legislative agenda for the AUA.
