2010 LESS in Urology: A Comprehensive Course on Laparoendoscopic Single Site Surgery DVD

Physician Course Directors: Jeffrey A. Cadeddu, MD and Mihir M. Desai, MD

Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) has rapidly gained popularity in general surgery and is considered the next evolution of laparoscopic surgery. Within urology, in the last year alone, many reports of ablative and reconstructive procedures have been generating significant interest in this technology. Offering patients this technique requires familiarity with new access ports and novel instrumentation. This DVD covers the live didactic presentations taken from the course, LESS in Urology: A Comprehensive Course on Laparoendoscopic Single Site Surgery given in January, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. The lectures from expert academic and clinical laparoscopic urologists focus on how to perform LESS in urology. The didactic presentations include indications, contraindications, patient selection and instrumentation needs. The lectures will detail operating room setup, placement of access ports, use of novel instrumentation and step-by-step surgical techniques for LESS urologic procedures. 2009 Robotic and Advanced Laparoscopic Urologic Oncology DVDs: Curing Cancer through Technology and Skill – Bladder DVD

Physician Course Co-directors: Ralph V. Clayman, MD and Elspeth M. McDougall, MD, FRCSC, MHPE

Minimally-invasive urology has evolved into an integral part of the treatment of urologic cancer. The modern management of bladder cancer requires a working knowledge of laparoscopic and robotic techniques. In order to perform advanced minimally invasive urology procedures, open surgical principles must be integrated with those of laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy. This video illustrates a structured approach to robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgery for urologic oncology, exclusively as it relates to bladder cancer. The specific surgical techniques will be outlined in a step-by-step operative outline. Issues such as optimal positioning, port placement, dissection techniques and methods to facilitate dissection and reconstruction will be discussed. The procedure will then be demonstrated in a live case surgery with expert faculty to provide commentary and offer specific tips and tricks related to each technique. After viewing the DVD, complete its corresponding, online posttest with a minimum passing score of 80% to earn up to 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
