Urothelial Papilloma

  1. Comprises 2--3% of papillary urothelial tumors
  2. Clinical: patients are typically younger than 50 years; papillomas are small, usually unifocal lesions, may present with hematuria; often recur and may be associated with invasive TCC in up to 10% of patients
  3. Histologic features:
    • delicate fibrovascular stalk(s) covered by normal-appearing urothelium containing 5-7 cell layers (no increase in thickness of the urothelium, in other words)
