Rete Testis
|
- Function: receives the luminal contents of the seminiferous tubules and moves it on to the efferent ductules.
- Histologic features:
- plexiform arrangement of spaces supported by highly vascular collagenous connective tissue
- Lined by a single layer of simple squamous or low cuboidal epithelial cells, some of which may possess a flagellum
- flagellar activity is presumed to aid the progress of spermatozoa which do not become motile until after maturation is complete in the epididymis.
