Prostatic Adenocarcinoma, Gleason’s Grade 2
|
- Nodular growth pattern, but the edges of the nodule are a little bit “looser” than those seen in grade 1
- Glands are not quite as uniform as in grade 1, but still tend to be a little on the larger side (like grade 1)
- Nucleoli are easily identified and there is abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm
- There may be minimal extension of the glands into the adjacent prostatic parenchyma, but no infiltration between normal glands is seen
- Rarely seen on needle core biopsies because -- like grade 1 carcinomas -- the grade 2 carcinomas most often involve the transition zone.
