Renal Cell Carcinoma
Cytogenetics: 3p-, 5q+

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
Acquired cystic renal disease
? familial RCC
Gross: golden yellow tumor with hemorrhage and necrosis; +/- cystic changes
Microscopic:
water-clear cells in "chicken wire" vasculature
the delicate capillary structure often ruptures during surgical manipulation, resulting in the formation of “blood lakes”
some cells may have granular eosinophilic cytoplasm (used to be called “granular cell RCC”, but that term is no longer used).
Nuclear grading based on Fuhrman classification (grades I-IV).
