AUA Residents Committee Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the AUA Residents Committee! Since its inception, the AUA Residents Committee has aimed to provide representation for concerns and relevant educational opportunities for Urology residents.

The Residents Committee is a standing committee of the AUA, reporting to the Section Secretaries Membership Council (AUA's governing body). Some of the committee's educational endeavors include authorship of a monthly article in AUANews regarding topics of acute resident interest, selection of a staff physician for the Committee's annual Teaching Award, and organization of the annual AUA Residents Forum. The Residents Forum is the single best opportunity for urology residents to learn how to navigate job searches, personal and practice finances, job-related legal issues, and the trade-offs regarding specialty training versus private practice positions.

This year, we continue to pursue resident involvement and organization at the sectional level through the Sectional Resident Committees. Resident representatives from each Urology program will be selected to form committees based upon their AUA region, with a goal of providing close communication with their AUA Section Secretary and the Residents Committee. Our hope is that educational opportunities or resident seminars, similar to those available at the AUA Residents Forum, will soon be organized to enhance regional resident education.

On behalf of the AUA Residents Committee, we welcome you to learn more regarding resident involvement in the AUA. Please feel free to contact me at casey.jessica@gmail.com, or to post a question to the Residents Committee from the link on our website.

Sincerely,

Jessica T. Casey, MS, MD
