Technical Tips

Our web site contains many enhanced features and in an effort to make your visit a little easier, here are some common technical difficulties and tips for making the technology work for you.

Login Difficulties
New to AUAnet or don’t know your login? AUA members can use their AUA I.D. number and password. Other audiences, like subscribers to the AUA’s Practice Managers’ Network (PMN) and past meeting attendees or faculty can either use their AUA I.D. number (if known) or search the system for their e-mail address to determine their login information. Most already have a record. If you have a record and request your password, it will be sent immediately. You will then have the option of changing your password.

"Cookies" are bits of data sent to your computer and stored on your hard drive. Cookies remember when you have visited a site and can be instrumental in making sure you get the items you want in an on-line store. To make purchases on the AUAnet site, you must be able to accept cookies. Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator are set up to accept cookies by default. You can review and change your browser’s ability to accept cookies by:

For Internet Explorer:

  1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Highlight the Internet icon and click the Default Level button.
  4. Click the OK button to finish.

For Netscape Navigator:

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Select the Advanced category.
  3. Highlight the Accept all cookies radio button.
  4. Click the OK button to finish.

Pop-up Blockers
You may want to turn off pop-up blockers when browsing AUAnet. Although we do not use pop-up advertising, some links and features do open in a new window and may be blocked by pop-up blocking software.

Many legitimate advertisers on the Internet use windows that pop up in the middle of your screen to display a message. They might also open when you click a link or button on a Web site, and they might open either over or under the window you wish to view. Some pop-ups are helpful. For example, if you click an image to see a larger version, it might open in a pop-up window. Unfortunately, some pop-up windows can contain inappropriate content or can be a way for you to accidentally download dangerous software (called spyware or adware) onto your computer.

Common Problems with Registration and Purchasing
When users try to purchase a product on our site and receive a message that the transaction is "declined," it is usually a problem with the bank or credit card (e.g., insufficient funds and/or an authorization problem). If you get the error "we cannot process your transaction at this time," that means the credit card authorization service we use is temporarily out of service. Please try again later.
