The American Urological Association (AUA) Guidelines Department utilizes a dynamic and methodologically rigorous review process in the development of all evidence-based clinical guidance products. Guideline Statements (Standard, Recommendation, Option) are developed following a review and analysis of the available peer-reviewed evidence by a panel of physicians selected for their proficiency in a guideline's particular subject area. When data is unavailable or insufficient, additional statements are provided as Clinical Principles or Expert Opinions.
Best Practice Statements and White Papers are consensus-based documents derived from a qualitative review of the literature.
