Developed by a team of educators, academicians and clinicians, this valuable and interactive home study activity will enhance your knowledge of urology and improve performance as well as patient care at your convenience.

This comprehensive course includes 5 clinically-relevant, selected articles with a corresponding online posttest for each of the 12 issues of The Journal®. For AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, the participant must be enrolled in the home study course for the year; complete the CME questionnaire, submit answers online at www.AUAnet.org/cmetests, passing with a score of 80%, and claim the credits.

The American Urological Association designates this enduring material for a maximum of 24 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This Home Study Course is available only to subscribers of The Journal of Urology® and includes volumes 191 and 192.

The 2011, 2012, and 2013 CME posttests are available online. The 2014 posttests will be posted online as they become available.

AUA CME Requirements

Program Description and Objectives

The Journal of Urology® Home Study Course is a comprehensive learning activity developed by a team of educators, academicians and clinicians. After completing each lesson, the participants should be able to assess their knowledge of urology, demonstrate an increased knowledge base of urology, and apply the increased knowledge to improve quality of patient care.

Accreditation

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

The American Urological Association designates this enduring material for a maximum of 24.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Target Audience

The Journal of Urology® Home Study Course is designed for practicing urologic physicians, American Board of Urology (ABU) candidates and/or residents.

Method of physician participation in the learning process

Two volumes of The Journal of Urology® are published annually. Each volume is comprised of 6 issues. Five clinically relevant articles are selected by the editor to be offered for CME in each issue of The Journal. For CME credit, the participant must be enrolled in the home study course for the year, complete the questionnaire on the opposite page, and submit answers online at www.AUAnet.org/cmetests, answering 80% of the test questions correctly. Please complete the accompanying evaluation. Each issue is designated for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

AUA Disclosure Policy

All persons in a position to control the content of an educational activity (i.e., activity planners, presenters, authors) participating in an educational activity provided by the AUA are required to disclose to the provider any relevant financial relationships with any commercial interest. Any of the mechanisms below can/will be used to resolve conflict of interest:

  • Peer review for valid, evidence-based content of all materials associated with an educational activity by the course/program director, editor, and/ or Education Content Review Committee or its subgroup
  • Limit content to evidence with no recommendations
  • Introduction of a debate format with an unbiased moderator (point- counterpoint)
  • Inclusion of moderated panel discussion
  • Publication of a parallel or rebuttal article for an article that is felt to be biased
  • Limit equipment representatives to providing logistics and operation support only in procedural demonstrations
  • Divestiture of the relationship by faculty
