Normal Urine cytology: Prostatic Cells

  • Cytologic features:
    • Form small aggregates that maintain a "ball-like" or glandular configuration (image A).
    • Cells are small and may be columnar or round with slightly acidophilic (pink) cytoplasm.
    • Nucleus: single small, round to oval, with finely granular chromatin.
  • May be seen following prostatic massage.
