  • Anastomosing network of delicate channels located at testicular mediastinum (image A).
  • Receives the luminal contents of seminiferous tubules and moves it on to the efferent ductules; usually lumen is empty indicating rapid transit.
  • Histology:
    • Lined by a single layer of cuboidal epithelial cells, some of which may possess a flagellum (image B).
    • Flagellar activity is presumed to aid the progress of spermatozoa, which do not become motile until after maturation is complete in the epididymis.
