  • Agent: Neisseria gonorrhea (gonorrhea means "flow of semen", referring to the exudate of the urethritis)
  • Transmission: sexual.
  • Chief complication: urethral stricture.
  • Clinical: profuse purulent or scant "gleet" urethral discharge with burning on micturition.
  • Appearance: Gram-negative "biscuit-shaped" diplococci (image A) & (image B).
  • DDX: Chlamydia (which often accompanies it).
  • Treatment: antibiotics.
