Stephen Boorjian, MD
2014 AUA/EAU Academic Exchange Program Scholar
Stephen Boorjian, MD, has been named a 2014 AUA/European Association of Urology (EAU) Academic Exchange Program Scholar. Dr. Boorjian is a Professor of Urology and the Director of the Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Boorjian received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. He subsequently completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Boorjian's research interests include optimizing the management for patients with high-risk prostate cancer, evaluating the outcomes among patients undergoing radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, and improving surgical therapy for advanced renal cell carcinoma. Dr. Boorjian has co-authored over 180 manuscripts and book chapters, and was recognized as "Teacher of the Year" in Urology for 2012 by the Mayo Clinic Fellows' Association. He is currently an Assistant Editor at the Journal of Urology, and serves as President of the Young Urologic Oncologists Section of the Society of Urologic Oncology.
As part of the AUA/EAU Academic Exchange Program, Dr. Boorjian will attend the EAU Annual Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to the conference, Dr. Boorjian will visit UZ Leuven, Belgium, Hôpital Tenon, Paris, VU Medisch Centrum, Amsterdam, and Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, where he will have the opportunity to observe urologic surgeries and procedures, as well as attend staff activities and clinics.
