AUA/Indian American Urological Association (IAUA) Chakrobortty Fellowship Program
The IAUA has administered the Chakrobortty Fellowship with great success since 1990 in honor of their founding president Dr. Hitendra Chakrobortty. In the spirit of collaboration, it was decided that a partnership between the IAUAA can directly impact the educational opportunities for young urologists while improving the delivery of quality care to patients in India. Such collaboration will also enhance the knowledge and global perspectives of AUA and IAUA members in North America.
Therefore, the AUA and the IAUA have created the AUA/IAUA Chakrobortty Fellowship Program to further promote the interchange of urological skills, expertise and knowledge, and provide outstanding and promising junior faculty members with an opportunity to interact with colleagues in North America. Medical advances are often the result of fruitful collaboration, and this fellowship is designed to facilitate such opportunities.
The program is designed for two Indian urologists to travel to North America for up to a 3-month period prior to and/or after the AUA Annual Meeting. During these visits, the scholars observe urologic surgeries/procedures, and attend clinics and staff activities.
Scholars will spend up to 3 months visiting North American institution(s) and will attend the AUA Annual Meeting in spring 2014.
