Linthicum, MD, May 30, 2014 – The American Urological Association (AUA) is pleased to announceDavid D. DeLorenzo, CAE has joined the organization as Associate Executive Director of Information and Communications. As Associate Director, DeLorenzo will direct the AUA’s operating, communications and member services goals and objectives as well as the outreach efforts for the Urology Care Foundation.  

With nearly 20 years’ experience leading all facets of association management, DeLorenzo is a seasoned executive who brings a wealth of knowledge regarding business operations, information technology and communications to his new role at the AUA.

“David’s nearly two decades of experience and industry knowledge make him a tremendous addition to our organization,” said Michael T. Sheppard, CPA, CAE, Executive Director of the AUA. “He is a true technologist, but also a proven strategist and business leader with extraordinary vision and operational expertise. We are very fortunate to find someone of David’s caliber to fulfill this important role.” 

DeLorenzo will be responsible for working with the AUA Executive Team and Board of Directors to further define and implement the Association’s digital, technical, member-centric and communications roadmap. Additionally, he will support and guide the Urology Care Foundation outreach efforts; including serving the Foundation’s senior liaison to its various stakeholder and patient advocacy groups as they work to increase awareness of urologic health and wellness matters at local and national levels.

DeLorenzo most recently served as Chief Digital Officer for the National League of Cities (NLC) where he led a team of professionals to position technology as a transformational business operation critical to innovation and success within the NLC and its departments, programs, products and services. Prior to the NLC, he spent nearly 10 years with the National Association of College and University Business Officers as Chief Technology Officer, providing leadership for all aspects of strategic IT planning, Internet Services and Distance Learning. His background includes responsibility for advocacy, membership, marketing, association management software systems, budgeting, financial management, communications, governance and technology.
