Where Can the Research Be Conducted?
The institution where the fellow will be conducting research during the fellowship must sponsor the candidate by guaranteeing adequate support, including responsibility for the adequacy of the environment, laboratory equipment, and supplies needed to perform the research. Further, the sponsoring institution recognizes that the candidate, if completing fellowship outside of Arkansas, will return to the University of Arkansas College of Medicine following the completion of the fellowship period.
The Role of the Mentor
The mentor must be a currently funded, established researcher with a strong track record of achievement in basic science, clinical research or some other area of interest in urology research. The mentor must also demonstrate experience in mentoring of research fellows.
Distribution of Scholarship Funds
The fellowship will last two months (approximately 60 days) during the summer of the award year. The exact dates may vary as agreed upon by the institution and candidate but under no circumstances should the duration be less than 50 working days.
A scholarship stipend of $3,000 will be paid directly to the Awardee. Payments of $1,500 will be made on July 15 and August 15.
