The applicant must be either a current medical student or entering medical school immediately following the fellowship period.
The sponsoring institution must be an accredited medical research institution or department of urology within the geographic boundaries of the AUA Sections. The institution must sponsor the candidate by guaranteeing adequate support, including responsibility for the adequacy of the environment, laboratory equipment, and supplies needed to perform the research.
The mentor must be a currently funded, established researcher with a strong track record of achievement in urologic research. The mentor must also demonstrate experience in mentoring of research trainees.
The fellowship will last two months (~60 days) during the summer of the award year. The exact dates may vary as agreed upon by the institution and candidate but under no circumstances should the duration be less than 50 working days.
Distribution of Funds
A salary stipend of $3,000 will be paid directly to the Awardee. Payments of $1,500 will be made on July 15 and August 15.
