The American Urological Association (AUA) provides specific education on coding and billing for urologists and their billing department staffs in a variety of ways.
Regional Coding Seminars
Annually, the AUA holds weekend sessions taught by highly respected urology coding experts who provide updates on coding changes, discussions of common coding questions and payment denials gathered from the AUA Coding Hotline, and practical exercises to hone the skills of anyone in the practice who is involved with CPT, HCPCS or ICD coding. To ensure optimum reimbursement for patient care, every practice should send individuals to these essential coding updates.
Please mark your calendars for the 2014 AUA Coding Seminar dates-
March 14-16, 2014 at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel in Tampa, Florida
April 4-6, 2014 at the Sonesta Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
July 25-27, 2014 at the Westin Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

ICD-10-CM Basic Training Course for Urology Practices
Beginning October 1, 2014, all health care providers will be required to exclusively use the new Version 10 of the International Classifications of Diseases Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM). This coding nomenclature is vastly different from ICD9-CM, which has been used for many years by U.S. physicians.
The AUA Practice Management Department, in cooperation with the Reimbursement and Regulations Department and the AUA Office of Education recorded approximately 6.5 hours of comprehensive ICD-10-CM Basic Training in October 2013. This education is comprised of four modules in MP4 format so that each practice can undertake this essential training at a pace that fits their schedule. The course content incorporate faculty lectures synchronized with PowerPoint slides. It also includes the live audience questions and the opportunity for each learner to participate in Audience Response questions about ICD-10-CM preparations using any device that provides access to the Internet.
