Surgical Quality Alliance (SQA)

The Surgical Quality Alliance (SQA) is an American College of Surgeons-supported group of more than 25 surgical and anesthesiology specialties working together to define the principles of surgical quality measurement and to develop awareness among interested parties about issues related to surgical care and quality in all surgical settings. SQA organizes and disseminates surgical care measures and shares methodologies across specialties to assist in the development of meaningful tools for quality improvement, such as the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Surgical Care Survey.

The American Urological Association (AUA) is a founding member of SQA, which strives to be a forum for disseminating information and directing efforts to achieve its mission, such as coordinating surgery’s response to federal and private initiatives and assisting surgical specialty societies in data aggregation, reporting, and the development, validation and implementation of physician performance measures.
