White Paper on the Incidence, Prevention and Treatment of Complications Related to Prostate Needle Biopsy

At the May 2011 American Urological Association (AUA) Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Committee meeting, committee members noted increased reports of sepsis and infectious complications after prostate needle biopsies. Members of the workgroup included Chris M. Gonzalez, MD, MBA, Timothy Averch, MD, Lee Ann Boyd, MSN, ARNP, CUNP, J. Quentin Clemens, MD, MSCI, Robert Dowling, MD, Howard B. Goldman, MD, Danil V. Makarov, MD, MHS, Vic Senese, RN, Mary Anne Wasner, BSN, CURN.
