JU Open Plus

The American Urological Association (AUA) is now accepting applications for the first ever Editor of JU Open Plus.

Scheduled to begin publication in January 2023, JU Open Plus is an international, peer-reviewed, Open Access online journal focused on high-quality research in all areas of urology. Article types accepted for submission include full-length original research articles, registered reports, case reports and case series, breakthrough technologies, commentaries, narrative and systematic reviews, conference proceedings, and video articles. JU Plus offers a nimble, streamlined decision process and wide dissemination of scientifically rigorous research, thereby advancing the specialty of urology. JU Plus is part of the world-renowned, best-in-class family of peer-reviewed scholarly journals of the American Urological Association, which also includes The Journal of Urology® and Urology Practice. Together, these publications represent the definitive and collective voice of urology.

The ideal candidate must be an AUA Member, active in the practice of urology with broad knowledge of the specialty, and possess publication experience and knowledge of current practices in the publishing industry and specifically open access scholarly journals. The Editor is a paid consultant to the AUA Board of Directors, its officers and staff, and specifically to the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Development Officer and Director of Publications.

The incoming Editor will begin the editorial term in March 2022, spending the initial months establishing a new Editorial Board and setting up the journal for original and transferred submissions and publication (Mar -Dec 2022). The new editor will then serve the next two years (Jan 2023–Dec 2024) overseeing the newly established journal for a total 34-month term. The editor is eligible to be renewed for a second term (Jan 2025–Dec 2027).

Applicants must submit a statement of interest highlighting qualifications for the position as outlined in the job description, curriculum vitae, and an updated disclosure record.
