The education mission of the American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc., (AUAER) is to provide quality continuing medical education that is independent, free of commercial bias, and based on valid content to enhance the clinical competence and performance of urologists and the urologic care team.
Continuing Medical Education is provided by the AUAER in all domains of urology. The AUAER also provides education in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education/American Board of Medical Specialties core competencies for physicians.
The primary target audiences are AUA members, urology residents, urology sub-specialty fellows, and other members of the urologic care team.
Types of Activities Provided
The AUAER sponsors evidence-based education using adult learning principles in the form of:
- Live Activities including hands-on skills training
- Enduring Materials
- Test Item Writing
- Manuscript Review
- Other formats as appropriate (for example, performance improvement or Internet point of care)
Intended Outcomes of the CME Program
The CME program intends to:
- Meet the lifelong professional educational needs of urologists, urologists-in-training, and the urologic care team based on identified professional gaps.
- Improve competence and performance of members of the urologic care team, which will ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.
