Osteopathic Physicians

The American Urological Association, Inc.® (AUA) membership at the 1978 Business Meeting approved the proposition that qualified Doctors of Osteopathy hold a degree equivalent to an MD The AUA endorses the admission of qualified osteopathic physicians to approved urologic residency training programs.

The American Board of Urology (ABU) examines and certifies qualified Doctors of Osteopathy who have completed all requirements set by the ABU.

Relative to certification by the ABU, the AUA recommends that qualified Doctors of Osteopathy, who meet AUA membership requirements, be received into the AUA as active members. Doctors of Osteopathy who are practicing urology but do not meet Active Membership requirements may become Associate members.
