Part of the mission of the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Committee is ensuring the highest degree of safety for urologic patients. To do so, the QIPS Committee advises American Urological Association (AUA) members on the best way to minimize the incidence and impact of adverse events in urologic practice and maximize recovery from such events. The Committee routinely monitors reports of unsafe practice and safety alerts from various government agencies, particularly the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). When warranted, the Committee notifies its members about such events and educates AUA members regarding proper procedures.
