Patient & Research Advocacy Coordinator
<p>The American Urological Association (AUA) is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting a Patient & Research Advocacy Coordinator</p>
<p>The primary function is to work collaboratively within the department and with AUA's advocacy partners to develop relationships and cultivate advocacy collaboration opportunities. This position will support all components of the Patient Advocacy Hub at AUA Annual Meeting including outreach to participants and preparation of meeting materials and support outreach and communication to the Bladder Health Alliance; includes providing program support for the Bladder Health Roundtable meeting materials and logistics.</p>
<p>This position will cultivate patient advocates and volunteers by providing regular outreach to partners and sharing resources created by the Urology Care Foundation and AUA; prepare and distribute ongoing regular communications for the urologic advocacy community that promote advocacy collaboration and maintain relationships with agencies within NIH and schedule meetings as needed for staff and committee members.<br /><br /> The successful candidate will have:</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor degree in healthcare, public health, health policy, or related field required.</li>
<li>Three or more years of experience with patient & research advocacy activities. Experience with patient advocacy organizations a plus.</li>
<li>Familiarity with the operations of NIH agencies.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with team members to meet deadlines and project goals. Must be able to determine priorities and identify resources needed to achieve goals.</li>
<li>Demonstrate sensitivity towards the attitudes and feelings of advocacy partners. Includes being socially and politically aware of advocacy partner position statements and advocacy priorities.</li>
<li>Proven project management experience to include planning and organizing meetings and events.</li>
<li>Experience working with a governing board, physicians, and volunteers.</li>
<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrated success with building relationship skills among peers, volunteers, and organizational management.</li>
<li>Attention to detail including exceptional organizational skills is critical.</li>
<li>Internet, Word, Excel, Power Point and database high proficiency required.</li>
