Mateus Webber De Bacco, MD, PhD 2026 AUA/SBU EXCHANGE SCHOLAR PROGRAM /images/headshots/2026%20IP%20Scholars/DeBacco%20Headshot%20Photo.jpg <p>Dr. Mateus De Bacco is a consultant urologist at Hospital Moinhos de Vento and Hospital S&atilde;o Lucas of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC‑RS) in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He previously served as a faculty member at the Unisinos University School of Medicine from 2019 to 2023 and, since 2023, has worked as a preceptor in the urology service at S&atilde;o Lucas Hospital of PUC‑RS, where he trains urology residents.</p> <p>He earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA) in 2009. Dr. De Bacco completed his residency training in general surgery in 2012 and in urology in 2015, when he also obtained board certification from the Brazilian Society of Urology. He subsequently earned a Doctorate in Surgery from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.</p> <p>Dr. De Bacco has completed formal robotic surgery training and is certified as a Da Vinci Console Surgeon by Intuitive Surgical (2019). In 2022, he was recognized by the Brazilian Society of Urology as an instructor‑surgeon for the Da Vinci system, with a particular emphasis on uro‑oncology, an area in which he has delivered lectures and published scholarly work.</p> <p>As part of the AUA/SBU Exchange Scholar Program, Dr. De Bacco will attend the 2026 AUA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC and observe at the University of Miami.</p>
