<p>Matt Hemelt serves as AUA’s Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. He oversees the organization’s financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, internal controls and reporting, managing insurance policies, overseeing regulatory issues, directing the management of investments and operating cash, and office management. He is the primary liaison with the AUA Treasurer and the Finance Committee (which includes the Compensation and Audit Subcommittees). As a trusted advisor who worked closely with the AUA for more than 25 years, he has developed a deep understanding of the AUA's mission, operations, and commitment to advancing urologic care through education, research, advocacy, and member engagement.</p>
<p>Prior to joining AUA in August 2026, Mr. Hemelt worked in public accounting for more than 32 years, most recently as a partner for RSM US LLP, where he elevated his financial leadership and advisory experience. During that time, he worked extensively with nonprofit organizations to strengthen financial operations, improve efficiencies, manage risk, and support long-term strategic growth. Throughout his career, he has helped organizations navigate complex financial challenges while building high-performing teams and fostering collaborative leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has professional memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. In addition to serving in executive leadership roles throughout his career, he has held numerous board and committee positions with nonprofit organizations, providing valuable governance and stewardship experience.</p>
