Marketing & Communications Intern
<p>The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care is presently recruiting for two (2) Marketing & Communciations (MarComm) Intern(s). The position(s) is based at the AUA office in Linthicum, MD working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for June and July 2018.</p>
<p>The MarComm intern(s) will support the Marketing & Communications and Patient Education (PE) departments by assisting in the development, planning and implementation of AUA/Foundation projects. The intern will work on a myriad of projects for the MarComm/PE teams to maximize the intern's exposure to various roles and responsibilities within the Marketing & Communications field, and to provide support and assistance to the entire MarComm/PE staff. </p>
<p>The goal for our summer interns is to expose the student to the breadth of Marketing & Communications, while providing actual work experience in the field of Marketing & Communications. In addition to the projects outlined below, the intern would be included in team meetings (and other project-related meetings) to gain greater exposure to the inner-workings of a business environment. </p>
<p>Specific projects include, but are not limited to:</p>
<p><strong>I. </strong><strong>Assist in Content Development for AUA2019 Website</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Content review; copywriting and editing; project management; visual communications.</li>
<li>Approximate Hours to Complete: 32</li>
<li>Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Extract content from the AUA2018 site into Word documents (by page).</li>
<li>Review and update for obvious changes (e.g., change "San Francisco" to "Chicago").</li>
<li>Circulate content to various departments for review and approval.</li>
<li>Establish project folders on shared drive and organize documents for updating. </li>
<li>Review photography taken at AUA2018 and identify images that can be used on the 2019 site. <strong> </strong></li>

<p><strong>II. </strong><strong>Help Create Marketing Metrics Report for AUA2018</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Research; marketing & communications analysis; report writing.</li>
<li>Approximate Hours to Complete: 16</li>
<li>Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Pull the metrics for AUA2018 communications (emails) and marketing efforts (digital ads; Web traffic) and consolidate into a single report. </li>
</ul>

<p><strong>III. </strong><strong>Help to Compile Focus Group Data from AUA2018</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Market research and analysis.</li>
<li>Approximate Hours to Complete: 16</li>

<p><strong>IV. </strong><strong>Begin Development of AUA2019 </strong><strong>Plan and Message Blocks</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Constructing a plan, identifying goals, strategies and tactics; developing key messaging in various word counts.</li>
<li>Approximate Hours to Complete: 24 </li>
<li>Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Using AUA2018 plans as a guide, draft the MarComm plans for AUA2019.</li>
<li>Using AUA2018 key messaging as a guide, draft generic messaging blocks for use in AUA digital communications and publications (e.g., email, NetNews, Daily Scope). </li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>V. </strong><strong>Work with Design Team to Create Generic Bank of Ads for AUA2019</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Project management (use of Clarizen, MarComm's project management software); project trafficking; design best practices.</li>
<li>Approximate Hours to Complete: 16</li>
<li>Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Identify various ad sizes of AUA print and digital publications (AUANews, Urology Practice, Journal of Urology, Daily Scope, Feathr, NetNews, AUAnet) and request generic ads in various sizes.</li>
<li>Route art through approval channels. <strong> </strong></li>

<p><strong>VI. </strong><strong>Help Create Marketing Metrics Report for Education Courses and Products</strong> </p>
<ul>
<li>Skills Learned: Research; marketing & communications analysis; report writing.</li>

<li>Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Pull the metrics for AUA Education communications (emails) and marketing efforts (digital ads; Web traffic) and consolidate into a single report. </li>
</ul>

</ul>
<p>The successful candidate will be currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism or relevant field. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.</p>
