Residents Bowl

Designed to foster a spirit of competition and Section pride, the AUA Residents Bowl is the not-to-be-missed event of AUA2025. Each of the eight AUA Sections will field a team of residents that includes international trainees and go head-to-head in an ultimate battle of the brains. Now in its twelfth year, the AUA Residents Bowl will test residents' knowledge in different urological subspecialties, the history of urology and important new research findings.
The Residents Bowl will be held in the Science & Technology Hall.

Bradley is a PGY5 at Georgetown in Washington, DC. A native of Virginia, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he was a member of the AOA. While in residency, his research has thus far focused on bladder and prostate cancers, and he is starting a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of Chicago next year. When not placing foleys, he enjoys spending time with his wife and puppy, playing the piano and watching the newly-revived Washington Commanders.

Brandon C. Wilson was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD to West Indian and Central American parents. He previously worked as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department & ICU for 5 years. He ultimately earned his degree at the Medical College of Georgia. He is currently a PGY4 at VCU Urology. His main area of research is focused on disparities in Prostate Cancer outcomes, and he is applying to this year's SUO match. He has been married to his lovely wife Paula for over five years, and they have recently adopted three lovely children. His interests outside of work include travel, trying new food and sports.

Dr. Cavichione is a urology enthusiast, loving every subspecialty, but he is most interested in Uro-oncology, Lithiasis and general Urology.

Dr. Gonzalez is 36 years old and from Cali, Colombia. He completed medical school in Bogota and then went to Medellin for his urology residency. Dr. Estrada loves robotic surgery and is interested in an international fellowship in the US, Chile or Brazil. He loves to play tennis and soccer in his free time and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dr. Gonzalez is a huge fan of salsa music and reggaeton. He did an exchange student program in 2006 in Marshfield, Wisconsin where he finished his senior year.

Dr. Li is a 4th-year Urology resident at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, with a focus on urologic oncology and surgical innovation. He completed medical school at McMaster University and studied epidemiology and biostatistics in college. Dr. Li’s clinical interests include high-volume oncologic surgeries, both minimally invasive and open. His research focuses on big data analytics, quality improvement in patient care and leveraging 3D reconstruction technologies to enhance surgical outcomes. Before medicine, Dr. Li worked in biostatistical consulting. Outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball and is a passionate Los Angeles Lakers fan.

Dr. Gregor Duwe is currently completing his residency in urology at the University Medical Center Mainz. In addition to his clinical training, he is engaged in clinical research, particularly on localized prostate cancer and advanced bladder cancer, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in treatment recommendations for genitourinary cancer. He completed his medical studies at the Medical Faculty of Charité in Berlin, where he also conducted research in the field of oncological surgery within the Department of Surgical Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston.

Passionate about the outdoors, she enjoys hiking, skiing, fishing and sailing. If it’s raining, you’ll find her in the yoga studio. Dr. Kazarian was born in California, but mostly raised in Iowa which led to a difficult combination of a love of beaches and comfort food. He is an alumni of two great football schools (go Trojans and Hawkeyes) and maintains a large Armenian family in California including his three younger siblings. In Dallas, Dr. Kazarian prefers to explore restaurants and concerts and with time off, prefers to travel, having been to three countries and five states over the last year. After graduating next year Dr. Kazarian plans to go into private practice.

Dr. Deshpande is a final-year urology resident with a strong focus on andrology, female and general urology. His research projects include a randomized controlled trial examining intra-lesional mitomycin C after DVIU versus controls for urethral strictures, a study of cultured autologous buccal mucosal cells for urethral stricture repair and endoscopy-aided transvaginal repair of VVF. Outside of medicine, he is a passionate tennis player and the founder of the Indian Medical Tennis Society. In 2022, Dr. Deshpande had the honor of representing India at the World Medical Tennis Society Annual Tournament in Orlando. Balancing his commitment to both medicine and sports has been an enriching and motivating journey.

Thalia’s interests include collecting vinyl records, yoga and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

Leonardo Quarta is a urology resident at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy.
