Policies
In addition to the policies outlined below, please review our speaker resources and embargo policy. Any violation of these policies may subject the abstract to rejection or removal from the AUA Annual Meeting.
Communications
The presenting author is the sole contact for all correspondence regarding the abstract, and they are responsible for forwarding abstract-related communications to all co-authors. Queries from the contact person, co-authors or non-authors, including pharmaceutical or medical communications company employees, must be directed through the presenting author. AUA staff will respond only to the presenting author.
Accepted Abstracts and Registration Requirement
Decision notifications were sent to the presenting author on January 9. The presenting author is required to respond to the invitation by February 9. If a response is not received by this date, the abstract will be removed from the program.
- If the presenter accepts the invitation, they are required to register for AUA2026 by February 9 and attend the meeting in Washington, DC. Failure to register by this date and attend the meeting will forfeit the opportunity to present and the abstract will be withdrawn from publication in The Journal of Urology®.
- If the presenter declines the invitation, the abstract will be removed from the program and an alternate abstract will be accepted in its place.
Presenting author changes made via written request to the AUA will be honored provided that the new presenter was listed as an author at the time of abstract submission, and they are registered for AUA2026. Please email speakers@AUAnet.org with presenting author changes.
Additional information for presenters:
- The presentation schedule is final. Requests for changes will not be accommodated. Additionally, pre-recorded and/or remote presentations are not permitted.
- An individual may not serve as the presenting author on more than 5 abstracts accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting.
- The presenting author is responsible for any expenses associated with the presentation of the abstract. Registration fee waivers and travel grants are not available for abstract presenters.
Publication and Copyright
Abstracts accepted for the Annual Meeting are copyrighted by the American Urological Association and published in a supplement of The Journal of Urology®. No part of materials published in The Journal of Urology® may be reproduced without written permission of the publisher. For information on requesting permission to reuse The Journal of Urology®, visit shop.lww.com/journal-permission or email publications@AUAnet.org.
Revisions to the content or authorship will not be accepted.
Prior to the AUA Annual Meeting, the contents and conclusions of the abstract must not have been presented at or published in conjunction with any scientific, medical, or educational meeting with the following exceptions:
- Abstracts previously accepted to AUA Section meetings or select urologic sub-specialty societies are eligible for submission even if presented or published under the scientific, medical, or educational outlets of those meetings. Authors are strongly encouraged to provide updated data in the abstract submitted to the AUA Annual Meeting.
- Study results may be presented at closed (non-public) meetings on the condition that no meeting materials are publicly disseminated in any format.
Additionally, the contents and conclusions must not be published as a full-length research article in a scientific, medical, or educational publication (in any medium), in whole or in part, before the abstract is published online by the AUA. Full-length pre-prints (non-peer-reviewed research articles published online for public dissemination and public comments are permitted before the abstract is submitted.
Request to Withdraw
Requests to withdraw an abstract must be sent by the presenting author to speakers@AUAnet.org. Please include the abstract number and title in your request.
Speaker Tasks and Presentation Upload
In late February, speakers will receive access to the Conference Harvester site. Speakers are required to complete assigned tasks and upload presentation materials (if applicable) by the stated deadlines. Only the presenting author can access this site.
Expectations
The AUA has developed the following expectations for abstract sessions. Abstract authors and presenters are responsible for abiding by several key standards to ensure the integrity and scientific quality of educational content.
- Evidence-Based Content: All recommendations for patient care must be grounded in current scientific evidence and clinical reasoning, presenting a balanced view of available options.
- Scientific Integrity: Any referenced research must meet accepted scientific standards in design and analysis. Authors must not cite studies with known allegations of misconduct.
- Avoidance of Unscientific Practices: Abstracts must not promote practices lacking scientific support or are known to be ineffective or harmful.
- Use of Product Names: Only generic drug names should be used unless no generic exists. If a trade name must be used it must be in parentheses alongside the generic name. Device trade names should be used only when comparing available options. In other instances, the device product class or functional name should be used.
- Disclosure of Off-Label Use: Any discussion of off-label or investigational uses must include appropriate disclosures to the audience.
- Clarity on Emerging Topics: When discussing topics with limited or developing evidence, this must be clearly stated.
- Patient Privacy: All patient identifiers must be removed, and patient images may only be used with written consent.
- Promotional Content: Materials must be free from ineligible company (i.e. commercial interest) logos or other branding. Academic, medical institution and non-promotional non-profit logos are permitted. Promotional, commercial or marketing materials are strictly prohibited within abstract session rooms.
- QR Codes: The use of QR codes on posters or slides is permitted if the material is related to the research presented, for example, datasets or a link to the abstract as published in The Journal of Urology® supplement. The solicitation to collect attendee data with QR codes and/or online surveys is strictly prohibited.
Non-compliance with the above expectations may result in action as determined by the American Urological Association.
Disclosures
CME Sessions
As podium and videos sessions are part of the AUA2026 Annual Meeting CME program, all the presenting authors disclosed financial relationships with ineligible companies (commercial interests) will be reviewed by the AUA COI Review Work Group. (Note: Disclosure information was collected as the time of abstract submission. If the presenting author changes, that person must submit disclosure information for review.)
All presenting authors with existing financial relationships with ineligible companies will be required to complete an online attestation form in order to present.
Any presenting author who is determined to meet the ACCME’s definition of an owner or employee of an ineligible company is considered to have an unresolvable financial relationship and will not be permitted to present. In this case, an alternate presenter will need to be identified. Review of potential exceptions to this is only for specific limited circumstances. Note that the ACCME defines an owner as someone who has an ownership interest in a company, except for stockholders of publicly traded companies, or holders of shares through a pension or mutual fund.
Non-CME Sessions
While interactive poster sessions and Global Gateway posters are not part of the AUA2026 Annual Meeting CME program, presenting authors are asked to include any self-identified relevant financial disclosure information on the presentation material in an effort to maintain transparency.

Preparing Your Poster
AUA2026 Poster Templates Coming Soon!
Poster Printing
- Important update: The AUA will no longer offer printing services through Mira. Presenters may use the printer of their choice. Information about printing services near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center will be shared at a later date.
- The poster board is horizontal and measures 6 feet wide and 4 feet high (approximately 182 cm wide and 121 cm high). This is a smaller size than used in prior years. Printed posters must not exceed the size of the board.
Electronic Poster
- Presenters are required to provide a pdf of their poster to display in the AUA2026 mobile app. Posters must be uploaded in advance of the meeting and cannot be uploaded onsite. Additional information will be communicated to presenters in late February.
Poster Hanging
- Posters may be hung in the room 10 minutes prior to the session start time and must be removed at the conclusion of the session.
- Poster boards will be numbered. Presenters must hang their poster on the board that corresponds to their abstract number, for example, IP14-12 corresponds with interactive poster session 14, board number 12. Push pins are provided.
- Unattended posters will be discarded. The AUA is not responsible for lost, damaged or discarded posters.
Preparing Your PowerPoint Presentation
A slide deck is required for presenters in podium sessions and select forums (see Abstract Sessions).
- The AUA provides slide templates and other speaker resources. While the AUA encourages you to use the slide template, as the consistency in background style makes the viewing easier on the audience's eyes, you are not required to use the template if you prefer to use your own.
- The opening slide must include the abstract title and authors.
- Though disclosure information is available on the Annual Meeting website, we encourage you to include a disclosure slide at the beginning of your presentation.
Additional Guidance
- The AUA recommends the advance submission of slide presentations. The presenting author will be notified once the presentation upload site opens.
- Presentations not submitted in advance must be uploaded onsite in Speaker Ready. The AV tech in the session room cannot upload individual presentations via USB. We cannot accommodate Prezi or other internet-based slide presentation tools.
- It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure the correct slides have been uploaded. AUA staff will not accept presentations sent via email.
