Gregory S. Adey, MD, FACS
New England Section
Dr. Adey received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He then completed his surgery and urology training at the Harvard Program in Urology (Longwood). Dr. Adey is a founding member of Fore River Urology in Portland, Maine. He serves as the Cancer Liaison Physician at Mercy Hospital, along with positions on the Quality, Strategic Management, and Cancer Committees. Dr. Adey's clinical interests are urologic oncology, BPH and erectile dysfunction. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Rafael E. Carrion, MD
Southeastern Section
Dr. Carrion received his BS and MD degrees at the University of Miami and completed his residency in Surgery and Urology at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. He became a fellow in Sexual Medicine and Neurourology at the University of California in San Francisco. After finishing his fellowship, Dr. Carrion became an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. He is on staff at Tampa General Hospital, James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital, and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Carrion's subspecialties are: Sexual Medicine, Neurourology, Peyronie's Disease, Male Health, and General Urology. He is an active member and on the Board of many urological associations and societies. Dr. Carrion is Director of Research at USF Department of Urology and Vice Chief of Urology at Tampa General Hospital. His scientific research has been presented at various congresses. He has also published significant contributions in the field of sexual medicine and is a reviewer for several prominent journals.
Caner Z. Dinlenc, MD
New York Section
Dr. Dinlenc completed his residency at Boston University Medical Center in 1999. He then took on a fellowship position in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Since then he has been Physician–in-Charge of Endourology and Laparoscopy at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Associate Program Director for the residency there. He is also Associate Professor of Clinical Urology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He started the Robotic Urologic Surgery Program at Beth Israel in October 2001. His primary research interests are in quality of life outcomes, teaching methodology and resident training. He has published over thirty articles and chapters. He serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Urology, Urology and Journal of Endourology.
B. Mayer Grob, MD
Mid-Atlantic Section
Dr. Grob is Associate Professor and Urology Program Director at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. He also serves as the Chief of Urology at the McGuire VAMC. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia followed by his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. During his residency, he spent two years in the laboratory researching tumor immunology. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His research interests have focused mostly on prostate cancer as well as residency training. He is an active member of the AUA and the Society of Urologic Oncology. He is currently serving his second year on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Section of the AUA.
Damara Lee Kaplan, MD
South Central Section
Damara L. Kaplan, MD, PhD, received her doctorate in toxicology with an emphasis in renal toxicology in 1992. She attended medical school at the University of New Mexico, where she completed her urology residency in 2001. After two years in private practice, Dr. Kaplan became one of the founding partners of Albuquerque Urology Associates where she currently practices. Dr. Kaplan serves as the Residency Director for the University of New Mexico at Presbyterian Hospital, where she previously held the position of chief of the urology division. Although she is a general urologist, Dr. Kaplan's interest is in female urology. From 2001 to 2003, she served as the president of the New Mexico Urological Society. For the past five years, Dr. Kaplan has been the New Mexico representative to the South Central Section of the AUA.
Benjamin R. Lee, MD
Southeastern Section
Dr. Lee, Professor of Urology at the Tulane University School of Medicine, has focused his career on advancing new treatments for renal cell carcinoma as well as understanding the disease process. Dr. Lee graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University, then attended the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and continued on to complete his training at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was Assistant Professor & Director of Laparoscopy at the Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center in 2000, then promoted to Associate Professor. Dr. Lee then joined the Tulane School of Medicine`s faculty as Professor of Urology in 2008. He is author or co-author of more than 200 manuscripts, book chapters, videos and abstracts, and has been published extensively on a variety of urologic subjects.
Daniel W. Lin, MD
Western Section
Dr. Lin is currently the Associate Professor, Chief of Urologic Oncology, and holds the Bridges Endowed Professorship for Prostate Cancer Research at the University of Washington. Dr. Lin received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. He completed a urology residency at the University of Washington and a clinical urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, followed by an American Foundation for Urologic Disease (AFUD) Physician Scholar Award at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Dr. Lin has co-authored over 90 papers, chapters, and editorials and is associate editor of three journals. Dr. Lin's major basic research interests are in prostate chemoprevention and carcinogenesis, and his major clinical research efforts are in prostate cancer active surveillance and management of high-risk prostate cancer, funded by multiple peer-reviewed awards from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA).
Scott W. Lisson, MD
Southeastern Section
Dr. Lisson is a partner at Rocky Mount Urology Associates and an attending urologist at Nash Health Care Systems in Rocky Mount, NC. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Lisson served four years as a Lieutenant Commander on active duty in the Navy Medical Corps with tours as a staff urologist. He earned his BA in history from Colgate University and his MD magna cum laude and AOA from the Boston University School of Medicine. Following a surgical internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Dr. Lisson completed a residency in urology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine (Jacksonville, FL campus). Dr. Lisson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the AUA, Southeastern Section of the AUA, American College of Physician Executives, and many other urological and medical associations and societies. His professional interests are physician leadership and general urology with an emphasis on urologic oncology, BPH, stone disease, and laparoscopic/robotic urologic surgery.
Kurt A. McCammon, MD
Mid-Atlantic Section
Dr. McCammon is the Program Director of the urology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, as well as an Associate Professor. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He then went on to his urology residency, followed by a two-year fellowship in pelvic reconstruction at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. McCammon lectures both nationally and internationally on the topics of male and female reconstruction and has also authored numerous chapters and publications on pelvic reconstruction. His clinical interests include female urology, pelvic reconstruction, urethral reconstruction, and male incontinence. He is also interested in expanding the AUA's international outreach programs by fostering resident education and promoting urologic surgery in developing countries.
Badar M. Mian, MD
Northeastern Section
Dr. Mian serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Urology at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. He received his residency training in surgery and urology at the Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Mian completed fellowship training in urologic oncology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He specializes in the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer including the use of laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery. His clinical research is focused on prostate cancer screening and detection. He has received funding for laboratory research on bladder and prostate cancer, and authored a number of book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on these topics. Dr. Mian is a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Section of the AUA, and is an active member of the AUA, Society of Urologic Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Aaron J. Milbank, MD
North Central Section
Dr. Milbank is a urologist with Metropolitan Urology, a large single-specialty practice in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. His clinical interests are male factor infertility and the surgical management of kidney cancer. He grew up in New York before attending college at Harvard University where he majored in classical languages and literature. He graduated from Cornell University Medical College and completed a urology residency and male infertility fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation before moving to Minnesota. He hopes that the AUA Leadership Program will strengthen his leadership skills and allow him to be an active advocate for the community of urologists and urologic patients in these times of uncertainty in medicine.
Manoj Monga, MD
North Central Section
Dr. Monga is the Professor of Urology, Director, Stevan Streem Stone Center at the Cleveland Clinic. After graduating from the Chicago Medical School, he completed his residency at Tulane University. He specializes in endourology and stone disease. He was awarded the Endourology Society, "Arthur Smith Young Innovators' Award" in 2007 and has over 225 peer-reviewed publications. His research has focused on the evaluation and design of medical devices related to endourology. He is a Section Editor for the Journal of Endourology. Dr. Monga currently serves on the ABU/AUA Exam Committee. He has been an active member of the North Central Section of the AUA, serving on the Annual Meeting Committee, Education Committee, Program Committee, Local Arrangements Committee and Personnel Committee. He is the President-Elect of the Minnesota Urological Society and Vice President of the Engineering & Urology Society.
Allen F. Morey, MD, FACS
South Central Section
Dr. Morey, serves as Chief of Urology at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Morey is retired from the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he trained and was assigned as Chief of Urology at Brooke Army Medical Center and Urology Consultant to The Surgeon General. He completed a fellowship in urologic trauma and reconstruction at the University of California, San Francisco from 1995-1997. Dr. Morey now practices reconstructive urology with emphasis in urethral strictures, urologic trauma, and prosthetic urology. He is Secretary-Treasurer of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and contributing editor for The Journal of Urology. He serves on the Urology Residency Review Committee and directs the AUA Annual Review Course.
Ajay K. Nangia, MBBS, FACS
South Central Section
Dr. Nangia completed his residency at theUniversity of Pittsburgh with fellowship in male infertility/microsurgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He is currently associate professor of urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is the past Chair of the Ethics Committee for the American Society of Andrology and will be President of the AUA's Society for the Study of Male Reproduction in 2010. He was a panel member for the AUA male infertility best practice guidelines update in 2009-2010. He is on the working group with the Centers for Disease Control involved in developing a National Action Plan for male infertility. He has written on his research interests in male contraception, vitamin D in sperm/testicular physiology and outcomes/access to care.
Kenneth Pace, MD, MSc, FRCSC
Northeastern Section
Dr. Pace graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1994 and completed his urology residency in Toronto in 1999. He then completed a Masters degree in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University and a three-year fellowship in minimally-invasive surgery in 2002. He joined St. Michael's Hospital and the faculty of medicine at the University of Toronto in 2002. His practice focuses on laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, endourology, and renal transplantation. His research interests included randomized trials in endourology and shock wave lithotripsy, as well as quality of life assessment following urologic surgery. Dr. Pace also serves as co-director of the University of Toronto fellowship program in Urologic Laparoscopy and Endourology, as the University of Toronto Division of Urology Clinical Fellowship Coordinator, as president of the Canadian Endourology Group, and as a member-at-large on the Board of the Northeastern Section of the AUA.
Christopher Porter, MD
Western Section
Dr. Porter is the Medical Director of Research and Co-Director of Urologic Oncology at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA. He is also the Director of the Urologic Oncology Fellowship Program at VM and Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the University of Washington. Dr. Porter received his medical degree at Rush University in Chicago and then completed his urology residency at Brown University in Providence, RI. He proceeded to complete a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Dr. Porter's passion in medicine is centered on the fusion of translational research and patient care. He has authored more than 70 peer reviewed manuscripts, editorials and book chapters. He has received a number of awards, including NIH grants on which he is a co-investigator, focusing on the application of ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Dr. Porter currently serves as the Membership Chair for the AUA's Urologic Ultrasound Faculty.
Eugene Y. Rhee, MD, MBA
Western Section
Dr. Rhee is the Chief of Urologic Surgery at Kaiser Permanente, San Diego, CA. He received his BS in Biology and BA in Political Science from Emory University. Dr. Rhee earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospitals, Los Angeles, CA. He received his MBA from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He serves as president-elect of The California Urological Association and The San Diego Urologic Society. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Section of the AUA. He is an active member of the AUA and numerous urologic specialty groups. Dr. Rhee has authored many editorials, presentations and peer reviewed journals. His clinical and research interests have focused on incontinence, erectile dysfunction urologic prosthetics, and minimally invasive techniques for BPH.
Dianne E. Sacco, MD
New England Section
Dr. Sacco is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Director of the Kidney Stone Program. After completing her medical education at University of Vermont College of Medicine, she completed a residency in urology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Presently she is on the Board of Directors for the New England Section of the AUA and Massachusetts Association of Practicing Urologists, as well as the Associate Director of the Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She specializes in endourology with an emphasis on stone disease. Her current research is focusing on the development of tools to enhance ureteroscopic management of stones and assist in resident training. She is a member of the AUA and the Endourological Society.
Jaspreet S. Sandhu, MD
New York Section
Dr. Sandhu is an Assistant Member in the Department of Surgery/Urology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He graduated from Duke University and after spending five years as an engineer in the telecommunications industry, obtained his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Weill-Cornell Medical Center and received a fellowship in voiding dysfunction at Columbia-Presbyterian and Weill-Cornell Medical Centers. His primary interest is to understand, predict, treat, and prevent voiding dysfunction or urinary incontinence caused by cancer or its treatments, with a focus on the treatment of male and female incontinence, and urinary tract/pelvic reconstruction. Dr. Sandhu also has a strong interest in the surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and voiding dysfunction caused by advanced cancers.
Norm D. Smith, MD
North Central Section
Dr. Smith hails from the small gold-mining town of Lead, South Dakota. He received his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Notre Dame and then attended Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Under the mentorship of Dr. John T. Grayhack, he stayed at Northwestern for Urology residency training, followed by an Oncology research fellowship. Dr. Smith joined the faculty at Northwestern and developed major leadership roles in the Department as Chief of Urologic Oncology at Northwestern and Section Head of Northwestern Urology at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. Dr. Smith recently joined faculty at the University of Chicago with continued specialty interest in Urologic Oncology, particularly bladder and prostate cancer. Dr. Smith lives in Chicago with his wife, Soni and their four children.
