Science and Quality Fellow Program
The Science and Quality Fellow Program advances the fields of guidelines, quality, and data. It also helps residents and fellows develop insight into how the AUA develops and promotes the advancement of evidence-based science.
The program is designed to educate urology residents, fellows, and postgraduates about the AUA’s science and quality initiatives and nurture the next generation of urology leaders by providing opportunities to gain critical insight and information needed to drive high-quality evidence-based medicine and care.
This two-year program, offers a unique opportunity to participate in a variety of science & quality activities that affect urology practice. Program Eligibility
- Open to all AUA residents in their research year, fellows, and first-year post-graduates
- Applicants will demonstrate a strong interest or aptitude for science and quality issues
- If the applicant is currently a resident, the Fellow's Resident Director must sign off on and verify that the Fellow will be available for the travel and time allotted for the program
The Science & Quality Fellow will:
- Participate in the Science & Quality (S&Q) Summit.
- Participate in science & quality governance meetings, relevant activities, and courses.
- Engage with curated networking opportunities.
- Receive intensive training on a wide variety of science & quality issues.
- Participate in key conferences, section meetings, and other relevant meetings as a liaison and representative of the Science & Quality Council.
The program is committed to being a key step in making the transition into leadership roles.
We are pleased to announce the 2026-2028 Science & Quality Fellow, Dr. Zachary Feuer.
Zachary Feuer, MD
2026-2028 SCIENCE & QUALITY FELLOW
Dr. Zach Feuer is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the UNC School of Medicine. His interest in quality traces back to his undergraduate training in Operations Management at the University of Maryland, an early exposure to systems thinking and process improvement that continues to shape his approach to clinical care. He subsequently completed his urology residency at NYU and his urologic oncology fellowship at UNC.
His work focuses on improving the quality and equity of prostate cancer diagnosis, spanning PSA risk stratification, MRI-informed clinical decision support, and implementation science. He led the development of an Epic-embedded prostate cancer screening pathway to standardize evidence-based screening. As an Improvement Scholar at UNC and a member of the ACR PI-RADS Quality Assurance and Practice Improvement Subcommittee, he is committed to translating quality-improvement principles into measurable gains in patient care.
