Vineet Agrawal, MD, MHA, FRCSEd, FEBU
Northeastern Section
Vineet currently serves as the division Chief of Urology at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA. Previously, he served as a Society of Endourology fellow in Robotics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, after training in the UK in Birmingham and London as a Urology resident. His interests include practice efficiency, optimization of Electronic Medical Records and professional development of his team members. He is a certified EPIC Physician builder. Recently, he graduated as a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his family and dog, as well as sing and play the guitar.
Hans Arora, MD, PhD

Hans Arora, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he serves as the Director of Robotic Surgery in Pediatric Urology and Co-Director of Quality Improvement for the Department. Dr. Arora received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University, followed by Urology residency at the Cleveland Clinic and pediatric urology fellowship at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is an active leader in organized medicine and health policy, serving in numerous leadership roles in the American Medical Association and the American Urological Association. He is Chair (2025-2026) of the AUA Young Urologists Committee and Chair-elect of the State Advocacy Committee.
Denise Asafu-Adjei, MD, MPH

Dr. Denise Asafu-Adjei is a Board-certified urologist, researcher and health policy champion. She is an Assistant Professor of Urology at University of Chicago, currently serving as Director of Men’s Health and Male Reproductive Medicine. Her research interests include erectile dysfunction, preventive health, AI and informatics. She completed an Andrology Fellowship at UCLA and Urology residency at Columbia University. She received her M.D. from the University of Michigan. She obtained an MPH in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She has served on several regional and national committees with the AUA, American Society for Reproductive Medicine and Sexual Medicine Society of North America. Her hobbies include travel (38+ countries!), documentaries, golf, cooking and exercise.
Adam Baumgarten, MD, MBA

Dr. Baumgarten is a fellowship-trained urologist specializing in genitourinary reconstruction, trauma and prosthetics. He joined UAB Urology in 2020 after completing residency at the University of South Florida and a GURS fellowship at UT Southwestern. His expertise includes urethral stricture disease, erectile dysfunction, male incontinence, Peyronie’s disease and urinary tract reconstruction. He performs complex urethroplasty, penile prosthesis placement, artificial urinary sphincter, male sling and robotic/open reconstructions. Dr. Baumgarten also holds an MBA from the University of Florida and is passionate about healthcare innovation. He serves as UAB Urology’s Departmental Value Officer, Associate Program Director for the Residency Program and Director of Medical Students and Urology Clerkship.
Jaime Cavallo, MD, MPHS

Jaime A. Cavallo, MD, MPHS earned her Bachelor of Science with honors from Georgetown University and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Cavallo then received General Surgery residency training and earned a Master of Population Health Sciences (MPHS) from Washington University in Saint Louis School of Medicine. She completed her Urology residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and her fellowship training in Male Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Cavallo serves as Director of Male Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. She is the first fellowship-trained male genitourinary reconstructive urologist in Connecticut and is a 2025 AUA Young Urologist of the Year Award recipient.
Teresa Danforth, MD

Dr. Teresa L. Danforth, MD is Associate Professor of Urology and Volunteer Faculty for Internal Medicine and Program Director of Urology at the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo. She obtained her medical degree and completed urology training at the University at Buffalo with fellowship in neurology, female and male voiding dysfunction at University of Southern California before moving back to Western New York to join the faculty. She is currently Chief of Urology for the largest healthcare system in Western New York, Kaleida Health.
Her clinical focus is female and male voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, pelvic pain and transitional care. Research interests include pelvic pain and recurrent UTI with collaborative NIH grants with the departments of Behavioral Medicine and Microbiology.
Marawan El Tayeb, MD

Dr. Marawan El Tayeb received his medical degree with honors from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2005. He completed his Urology residency at Alexandria Main University Hospitals in 2010. He then finished a pediatric urology fellowship at CCHMC in 2013, followed by an Endourology Fellowship at Indiana University in 2015. Dr. El Tayeb joined Baylor Scott and White Health in 2015. Dr. El Tayeb specializes in the medical and surgical management of kidney stones and BPH. He was the first in Texas to perform HoLEP. He has published over 53 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters and has presented over 50 abstracts. He is currently the chief of the Urology Division, Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Baylor Scott and White in Temple and Associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine; he also serves as the director of international education and research in the surgery department.
Thomas Frye, DO

Dr. Thomas P. Frye is a urologic oncologist in the Department of Urology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Urology and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Urology. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his medical degree at Midwestern University where he was the class valedictorian. He went on to complete his urology residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and a SUO fellowship in Urologic Oncology within The National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He specializes in both minimally invasive urologic oncology and advanced open pelvic and retroperitoneal cancer surgery. He has a special interest and expertise in the management of localized prostate cancer with focal therapy. Dr. Frye has the most comprehensive focal therapy program in upstate New York and offers many ablative technologies. He actively participates in national clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of focal therapy for prostate cancer.
Bradley Gill, MD, MS

Bradley Gill, MD, MS is Chief of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest and Mentor Hospitals, Director of Innovation for the Glickman Urological Institute and Associate Professor of Urology at Cleveland Clinic. He holds a joint appointment at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Veterans Affairs Northeast Ohio Healthcare System and serves as President of the Ohio Urological Society. His research and clinical interests focus upon men's health, including voiding dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction and treating urological conditions with implantable devices and neuromodulation. He has a background in biomedical engineering and enjoys teaching in the classroom and clinical settings. A Pittsburgh native, he lives in Cleveland with his wife and 2 children.
Nathan Grunewald, MD, MBA, FACS

Nathan Grunewald, MD, MBA, FACS is the Chief Innovation Officer and Urologic Surgeon at Sauk Prairie Healthcare, a rural independent community health system in Wisconsin. His primary clinical focus is general Urology and champions the needs of the 20% of the U.S. population relying on rural health facilities and the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community. As Innovation Officer, he is charged with championing innovation across the health system. Recognized by the American Urological Association as a Young Urologist of the Year in 2021, member of the AUA DEI Committee and President of the Wisconsin Urological Society.
Dr. Grunewald completed his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Business. He then spent 7 years working in the private sector on energy consulting followed by educational research and development work. He received his medical degree and completed his urologic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin.
Lourdes Guerrios-Rivera, MD, MSc

Dr. Guerrios-Rivera earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) School of Medicine and completed a urology residency at UPR Medical Sciences Campus. She serves as an Assistant Professor at UPR School of Medicine and Attending Staff at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS). Dr. Guerrios-Rivera holds a post-doctoral master’s in clinical research from UPR and completed a fellowship with the LEADS program at the University of Pittsburgh. She co-directs the Introductory Research Training Program at VACHS and participates in the SEARCH group, a multicenter/multiethnic database derived from the VA health system for prostate cancer outcomes. Additionally, she directs the Research Program at the Puerto Rico Trauma Center and is involved in the AUA FUTURE in Urology Mentoring Program.
Justin Han, MD

Justin S. Han, MD is an Associate Professor of Urology and Residency Program Director at the Smith Institute for Urology, Hofstra-Northwell Zucker School of Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed his residency training at New York University Medical Center. After returning to Northwestern for fellowship training in Genitourinary Reconstruction and Prosthetics, he joined the Smith Institute for Urology at Northwell Health and established his clinical practice focusing on reconstructive urology and prosthetic surgery. Dr. Han is actively involved in quality improvement, residency education and promoting equity and has served on several local and national committees in these areas.
Ty Higuchi, MD, PhD

Ty T. Higuchi, MD, PhD received his Doctor of Philosophy in physiology and toxicology from Colorado State University and completed medical school at the University of Nebraska. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic and then completed fellowship in Genitourinary Reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado and is the Director of Clinical Operations and Site Director at UCH. He currently serves on the SCS and AUA Judicial and Ethics and Bylaws Committee’s and the Chair of the AUA Bylaws Committee. His clinical interest includes male urethral and ureteral strictures, urorectal fistula, male urinary incontinence, Peyronies disease, erectile dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, robotic surgery, complications from radiation therapy and transgender health.
Sudhir Isharwal, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. Sudhir Isharwal is Associate professor and Vice-Chair for clinical operation in the department of urology at the Oregon Health & Science University. He completed his urology resident at University of Nebraska Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed his urology oncology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is interested in health care policy and administration. He completed Masters in Business Administration in 2023 from OHSU/PSU. He serves on the SUO health policy committee and on the board of Western section of AUA. He is current President of the Oregon Urological Society. His clinical practice encompasses all areas of urology oncology with special focus on single port robotic surgery and focal therapy of prostate cancer.
Michael Johnson, MD, FACS

Dr. Michael Johnson serves as Chief of Urology and Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship director at Washington University. Dr. Johnson's educational history includes Dartmouth College (undergraduate), University of Washington (medical school), Washington University (residency), and Johns Hopkins (Urologic Oncology fellowship). His prior roles include Johns Hopkins faculty and private practice at Oregon Urology Institute. He has received NIH funding in kidney and prostate cancer and promotes urologists to deliver multimodal advanced cancer care. He is passionate about advancing urologic care through digital technologies, organizational efficiency, and synergistic partnerships between urologists across all practice types and the industries that support them.
Kevin Koo, MD, MPH, MPhil
North Central Section
Kevin Koo, MD, MPH, MPhil, is Associate Professor of Urology at Mayo Clinic. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of urinary stone disease and leads an NIH-funded translational kidney stone research program. A national leader in health policy and advocacy, Dr. Koo chairs the AUA Federal Advocacy Committee and the North Central Section Health Policy Council. He serves on the Board of Directors of the North Central Section and the Endourological Society. Dr. Koo is an online content assistant editor of The Journal of Urology and Urology Practice and section editor of the AUA Core Curriculum. He is a former AUA Holtgrewe Legislative Fellow, AUA Data Research Program Scholar and AUA/Japanese Urological Association Global Exchange Scholar. A graduate of Yale School of Medicine, he completed residency at Dartmouth and an Endourological Society fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
Casey Kowalik, MD, FACS

Dr. Casey Kowalik is an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas, where she is also the Residency Program Director. Dr. Kowalik graduated residency from Lahey Hospital & Medical Center and completed an Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University. She is active in SUFU, South Central Section and the Urology Care Foundation and was co-chair of the 2025 Society of Academic Urology Annual Winter meeting. Her greatest passion is improving resident education. She has led the charge to create a rural track program at KU, which recently matched its first resident. Her current research focuses on medical school assessment of surgical skills and expanding treatment options for women with stress urinary incontinence.
Daniel Lee, MD, MS

Daniel Lee, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lee’s research interest lies at the intersection of communication, population health, and informatics. Dr. Lee is currently working on leveraging population health data to reduce racial disparities in the quality of cancer care through the use of consumer health tools and decision aides, and expanding access to and awareness of clinical trials.
Dr. Lee received his Master’s degree in Clinical Informatics from Vanderbilt University, focusing on the utilization of mHealth apps and websites to improve health education and patient engagement. He also completed his residency at Weill Cornell and fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Vanderbilt, specializing in the management of urologic malignancies, such as prostate, bladder, kidney, testis, and penile cancer.
Una Lee, MD

Dr. Una J. Lee is the Section Head of the Section of Urology and Renal Transplantation in Seattle, Washington and Urology Physician Lead within the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health System in the Puget Sound Region of Washington State. She is subspecialty board certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) and serves as Associate Program Director of the URPS fellowship at Virginia Mason Medical Center. Her undergraduate and medical school degrees are from Stanford University. She completed her urology residency at the Cleveland Clinic and her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Lee’s clinical practice is focused on the evaluation and management of female pelvic floor conditions, including overactive bladder, incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. She specializes in neuromodulation, vaginal reconstructive surgery, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery and complications from prior surgeries using mesh.
Dr. Lee serves as lead investigator in collaborative patient engagement work on urinary incontinence, funded by Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Her research is grounded in patient-centered perspectives. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the American Urological Association (AUA) Guidelines on the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause. She is a member-at-large on the Society for Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) Board. She volunteers with the nonprofit organization Medicine for Humanity and travels to Mbarara, Uganda to partner with local gynecologists to provide care and surgical education on the repair of fistula and childbirth injury. She serves as the Women’s Health Chair and Immediate Past-President of the Washington State Urology Society. She hopes to raise awareness of urologic issues related to advancing Women’s Health and lead positive change within Health Care.
Matthew Meissner, MD

Matthew Meissner MD, FACS is a urologic oncologist at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania. He completed residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is an assistant professor of urology at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Urology Residency Program at Geisinger Medical Center. His clinical focus centers on the surgical treatment of genitourinary cancer and his academic interests aim to innovate and improve the experience of graduate medical education.
Matthew Mossanen, MD, MPH
New England Section
Dr. Mossanen is a urologic oncologist in the Department of Urology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and an Assistant Professor of Surgery Harvard Medical School. He received his MD degree from UCLA and completed his urology residency at University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his urologic oncology fellowship at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and BWH program. He received an MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is the assistant fellowship director for the Urologic Oncology Fellowship at BWH and MGH and is the Director of Quality Improvement for BWH. His clinical and research interests include urologic malignancies with a focus in bladder cancer.
Katie Murray, DO, MS, FACS

Dr. Murray is currently Professor in the Department of Urology at NYU Langone Health and Grossman School of Medicine. She also serves as the Chief of Urology Service at the NYC HHC Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Murray received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College followed by Medical School at A.T. Still University. She completed her residency in Urology at the University of Kansas followed by a Society of Urological Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City in 2016. She then served on faculty at the University of Missouri from 2016 to 2022. While at the University of Missouri she completed a Master of Science degree in Academic Medicine. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as book chapters. She has given presentations in the area of urological oncology at various regional, national and international meetings. She is on the genitourinary committee of Alliance clinical trials cooperative group. She also serves in leadership roles for the Young Urologic Oncology clinical trials symposium of the SUO. She is board certified by the American Board of Urology. She remains an active member of organized urology and urological oncology with clinical and research interests in urothelial cell carcinoma and impact of interventions and treatments on patients’ functional life.
Brock O'Neil, MD

Brock O’Neil, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute. He specializes in urologic oncology. Dr. O’Neil’s NIH-funded research addresses health services, disparities and improving the value of cancer care. He serves as Co-Director of the Surgical Population Analysis Research Core (SPARC) and Director of Urologic Oncology Research. Passionate about mentorship and education, he leads the Urologic Oncology Research Fellowship and co-directs the Value Driven Healthcare Pathway at the University of Utah. Dr. O’Neil’s work bridges clinical care, health systems science and policy to advance high-value, patient-centered cancer care.
Sarah Psutka, MD, MS, FACS

Dr. Sarah Psutka, MD, MSc, FACS is an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. She specializes in bladder, kidney and testis cancer, with a focus on geriatric oncologic care. She leads urologic oncology at Harborview Medical Center and is Associate Program Director of the UW SUO Fellowship. Her research advances risk stratification, geriatric assessments and digital health interventions in urologic oncology, developing clinical trials evaluating supportive care and prehabilitation interventions. She holds leadership roles in the SUO, AUA and SWOG and has received the SUO Young Investigator and KCA Rising Star Awards. She served as Senior Editor and then Senior Consultant of the AUA Core Curriculum Oncology Section and has been named Chair-elect. She is an Associate Editor for European Urology.
Benjamin Ristau, MD

Dr. Ben Ristau is a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist, associate professor of surgery/urology, surgical director of urologic oncology and NSQIP Surgeon Champion at UConn Health/John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT. His clinical practice centers on open and minimally invasive/robotic surgical treatment of patients with prostate, bladder and kidney cancers. He has been active in reducing the risks associated with prostate cancer diagnosis by focusing on the implementation and evaluation of transperineal prostate biopsy. The focus of his translational research is to optimally match treatment type and intensity with tumor biology and patient physiology in patients with bladder cancer. He maintains active research collaborations with the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine (tumor biology) and The UConn Health Center on Aging (patient physiology) exploring this topic. Dr. Ristau has been active in the AUA and on several AUA committees since he was a resident. He lives in Connecticut with Cheyenne Beach, his wife and their three children, Lars (6), Helen (4) and Caleb (21 months).
Chad Ritch, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. Ritch is a fellowship-trained Urologic Oncologist and Associate Professor of Urology at the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, University of Miami, Miller school of medicine where he is the Director of Urology for UHealth Tower, the flagship university hospital. His clinical interests include the treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer. His research interests are in prostate and bladder cancer. He oversees the institutional non-muscle invasive bladder cancer database at the University of Miami and has conducted a randomized controlled pilot trial investigating the role of nutrition intervention in patients undergoing radical cystectomy. He also has active research studies on prostate cancer in Afro-Caribbean men. He is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) Guideline Panel for the Management of Non-muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer. He has an active role in the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) as the representative to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) and is the Associate Program Director for the SUO Fellowship at the University of Miami. He is on the editorial board for Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations and Urology Case Reports. He also serves as member of the board for International Volunteers in Urology (IVUmed). Dr. Ritch did his undergraduate studies at Duke University and then matriculated at the University of Chicago, where he obtained a joint degree in medicine (MD) and business (MBA) from the Pritzker School of Medicine and Booth School of Business. He then completed his residency in Urology at Columbia University Medical Center/NY Presbyterian Hospital followed by a two-year fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Krishnan Venkatesan, MD

A native of Detroit, Krishnan completed his medical education at Wayne State University and stayed there for his residency in Urology. He completed a fellowship in Genitourinary Reconstruction at the University College London and pursued further training in complex urethral reconstruction in Pune, India. Krishnan moved to Washington, DC in 2012 to become the Director of Urologic Reconstruction at MedStar Health. He is an Associate Professor in the Georgetown University Departments of Urology and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and participates actively in resident education. He has developed the MedStar Reconstructive Unit into a referral center for complex genitourinary reconstruction. He has presented his work regionally, nationally and internationally, and has co-authored numerous publications in urologic reconstruction.
Andrew Winer, MD

Dr. Winer is the Chief of Urology and Director of Perioperative Services at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County and has since risen to an appointment as Associate Professor and Program Director for the Urology Residency and Clinical Advisory Dean for Medical Students at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Following his Urology Residency at SUNY Downstate, he then completed a two-year fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was struck by the differences between the two institutions—in the demography of their patients, the access to health care and the clinical outcomes. Experiencing these disparities firsthand triggered his decision to return to Brooklyn where he has been in practice since. Dr. Winer's clinical interests feature the treatment of urologic malignancies, while also being able to study the impact of cancer in an under-served population that is typically underrepresented in publications. He is also passionate about providing mentorship for the next generation of physicians and urologists.
Over the past several years, he has become an active member in the New York Section of the AUA, working with the EMPIRE Educators group to help create the first Intern Boot Camp and has since assumed leadership of the program hosting the 2024 Boot Camp. This involvement among other activities has manifested itself into a key leadership position within the NYS AUA as a member of the Board of Directors within the section.
