Suspended Improvement Activities (IAs) for the 2025PY

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the suspension of eight Improvement Activities (IAs) for the 2025 MIPS performance year (PY). While these activities are under review for permanent removal, clinicians may still attest to them for credit, if they have already been completed or were in progress of being completed during the 2025 MIPS PY. The eight suspended IAs as follows:

What This Means for AQUA Participants:

  • If you have already completed, or were in the process of completing, any of the suspended IAs, you may still attest and receive credit for them in 2025.
  • Effective in 2026, you will not be able to attest to these IAs. Instead you will need to select alternate IAs to satisfy this MIPS category.
  • If needed, AQUA staff can help you identify new IAs, which are aligned with your practice’s workflows and goals.
