AUA Masterclass in Executive Leadership

February 28-March 2, 2025

A unique new weekend program designed for mid-career professionals looking to strengthen and grow their executive leadership skills.

Applications for the 2025 Leadership Masterclass are now closed.

Program Overview

The AUA Institute for Leadership & Business presents a unique, 1-1/2-day program designed for mid-career professionals looking to be more impactful leaders and advance their careers. Becoming a great leader is a lifelong pursuit. Even those in management positions need to nurture their skills to successfully communicate, motivate and navigate today’s complex work environments. Having a fundamental understanding of the business behind the practice is also critical for today’s leaders in urology.

This immersive weekend will be limited to just 24 participants and features an extraordinary group of established leaders who lead participants through sessions that explore:

  • building advanced leadership skills to lead, inspire and influence others
  • learning to set a strategy and vision, and chart a course to success
  • understanding how to impact the culture of an organization
  • improving communication skills and emotional intelligence to successfully navigate politics and resolve conflict
  • building a solid foundation in finance to drive better decision making

This unique program requires an application and approval prior to registration and will be limited to 24 participants to allow for small-group engagement. The weekend will also include a cocktail reception and dinner on Friday evening, and an off-site group dinner on Saturday evening to foster networking and engagement with faculty and other participants. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

FAQs

How is this Program Different from the Leadership Program?

As the most venerated and longstanding of AUA’s leadership initiatives, the AUA Leadership Program was developed to nurture AUA’s leaders of tomorrow. Selected by AUA Sections, participants must be ABU certified and 15 years or less out of residency. The Leadership Program is a year-long commitment that includes a weekend of leadership training as well as cohort-based research projects that address current issues impacting the specialty. Participants in the Leadership Program are funneled into an AUA committee position following their graduation. By comparison, individuals will apply to participate in the Masterclass in Executive Leadership program and pay a registration fee. We would encourage graduates of the Leadership Program to apply for this Masterclass for more advanced leadership skills and training.  Unlike the Leadership Program, the Masterclass is open to international members of the AUA.
