Coming Soon – 2023 Promoting Interoperability (PI) Letters

The annual PI letters will be disseminated to all eligible practices in early November. Your letter will indicate which active engagement option your practice is currently meeting—either “Option 1: Pre-production and Validation” or “Option 2: Validated Data Production.” The purpose of the PI letter is to provide you with proof of being actively engaged with a Clinical Data Registry (CDR), in the case of a MIPS audit.

While participating with a CDR is not mandatory for the 2023 performance year, it can earn you bonus points toward your MIPS score. For instance, under the PI category’s Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange objective, clinicians attesting “yes” to being actively engaged with a CDR will receive 5 bonus points toward their PI score.

The annual PI letter should be saved alongside your other important Registry documents. If you have any questions related to the PI letter, please contact your Client Account Coordinator (CAC) at AQUA@auanet.org.
