Executive Vice President: Research, Quality and Scientific Affairs

The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting an Executive Vice President:  Research, Quality and Scientific Affairs. This position will work in the Linthicum, MD office.

As one of the key spokespersons for the AUA, the Executive Vice President (EVP) in charge of Research, Quality and Scientific Affairs reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for establishing and implementing the strategic direction of the Data, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Research, and Practice Guidelines departments in achieving AUA's mission, and growing these core program areas of the organization. The EVP strategizes with leadership on global goals and objectives in concert with the Chief Executive Officer and direct reports and serves as an active member of the Executive Team by implementing Board of Director policies and making association-wide operating decisions. In partnership with the AUA Secretary, Treasurer and Council and Committee Chairs, serves as liaison between all committees relative to assigned Departments/Programs and Board of Directors. An essential facet of the EVP's duties is to foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with related medical associations, coalitions, support groups and government agencies to advance urology's agenda. The EVP educates AUA leaders and members on Practice Guidelines, Data, Quality and Research matters. The EVP is a primary contributor to the Policy & Advocacy Brief and other publications. The EVP is also responsible for the development of budgets and financial transactions.   

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a health or science related field, at least ten years of senior management experience and a proven track record of leadership and strong strategic planning experience, minimum ten years' experience with clinical guidelines, health services research and data administration.

Individual Giving Specialist

The Urology Care Foundation is the leading national urology health foundation and the official Foundation of the American Urological Association. We are recruiting for a Development Associate. Our office is located near Baltimore Washington International Airport in Linthicum, Maryland.

Provides assistance and expertise for individual fundraising including:  Annual Fund/Giving programs; gift processing and donor stewardship; donor database & prospect management; event fundraising; and other functions as needed to achieve annual fundraising goals. Writes direct mail appeals, requests mailing lists and ensures fundraising appeals are sent out on schedule. Identifies potential major gift donors, conducts prospect research and creates wealth and capacity reports to be distributed to members of our Leadership Team and Board of Directors. State Advocacy Manager

The American Urological Association, the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care, is actively recruiting an experienced State Advocacy Manager.

Primary duties include:

  • Conceptualizes, creates, develops and implements the AUA's state legislative agenda
  • Serves as the lead for the AUA delegation to the AMA House of Delegates

Project & IT Governance Director

The American Urological Association (AUA) is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care.  We are actively recruiting a Projects and IT Governance Director. This position will work in the Linthicum, MD headquarters office.

The Projects & IT Governance Director works with stakeholders from all business units to provide the vision, expertise and leadership needed to deliver project outcomes. This collaboration includes defining and documenting business requirements for AUA initiatives; developing project plans; defining project budgets; assigning project resources; assembling and leading project teams; ensuring project quality. The position is responsible for various methods and practices around provisioning technology, information and innovation into the business, improving the overall project portfolio management (PPM) maturity across the organization.

As an arm of the overall IT governance function, this position is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization's informational and technical projects/programs/portfolios and structured work efforts.

Works with the CIO/EVP to investigate, identify, explore, and review new and emerging techniques that will improve existing business processes. Assists the EVP with responsibilities related to short-and long-range planning and corresponding budget preparation and maintenance.

Payment Policy Analyst

The American Urological Association, the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care, is actively recruiting an experienced Payment Policy Analyst .

Primary duties include:  

  • Research and analyze rulemakings and policies: such as the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and the Hospital Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgical Centers payment systems analyzing impact and strategize to determine ways to address favorably impact the practice of urology.  Also, assist with research and analysis of policies related to insurer activities.  Monitor policy developments on a national level among federal and other medical organizations by using database subscriptions.  
  • Support the Reimbursement and Regulation Department: communicate to members about payment policies; preparing for the Coding and Reimbursement Committee meeting, Regulatory Workgroup, Telehealth Workgroup, and National Insurer Advisory Workgroup meetings and conference calls.   
  • Writing: draft written comments on policy issues; suggest, research and write Policy & Advocacy Brief articles and social media content.  
  • Projects:  works on all other department projects and programs as assigned.    

The successful candidate:  

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy area preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of policy analysis experience.  Examples of work required.

Patient & Research Advocacy Coordinator

The primary function is to work collaboratively within the department and with AUA's advocacy partners to develop relationships and cultivate advocacy collaboration opportunities.  This position will support all components of the Patient Advocacy Hub at AUA Annual Meeting including outreach to participants and preparation of meeting materials and support outreach and communication to the Bladder Health Alliance; includes providing program support for the Bladder Health Roundtable meeting materials and logistics.

This position will cultivate patient advocates and volunteers by providing regular outreach to partners and sharing resources created by the Urology Care Foundation and AUA; prepare and distribute ongoing regular communications for the urologic advocacy community that promote advocacy collaboration and maintain relationships with agencies within NIH and schedule meetings as needed for staff and committee members.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor degree in healthcare, public health, health policy, or related field required.
  • Three or more years of experience with patient & research advocacy activities. Experience with patient advocacy organizations a plus.
  • Familiarity with the operations of NIH agencies.

Data Analytics Manager/Statistician

The American Urological Association (AUA) is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting for an Data Analytics Manager/Statistician. Our office is located near Baltimore Washington International Airport in Linthicum, Maryland. 

This Data Analytics Manager/Statistician position will be expanding utilization and analysis of existing data resources, transitioning existing AUA data resources into marketable and/or high-impact products and services, and generating knowledge for broad dissemination. Provides expertise and experience in data analysis and statistical modeling to support clinical research and health outcomes research; Responsible for analyzing data to identify patterns and trends and assists with identification of evidence-based products; Assists in the analysis of primary and secondary data utilizing existing databases from the AUA quality (AQUA) registry, AUA annual census, federal government agencies and other health organizations. 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Master’s Degree in statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology required
  • Five years of post-graduate, full-time work experience in statistical analysis and/or statistical consulting required
  • Solid experience in statistical project management from inception to completion required
  • Theoretical fluency and a working proficiency in the application of a broad array of statistical methods such as description and inferential statistics, multivariate regression, clustering, predictive modeling, forecasting, and data mining

Member Services Operations Coordinator

  • Acts as the lead on the Match program and serve as second lead on the renewal process: responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of processing membership applications and provide superior customer service to members who reach out to the Member Services department. Coordinates operational activities related to all match programs and ensures appropriate database processing.
  • Support the Member Services Operations Manager: support the dues renewal implementation, billing & invoicing and reconciliation. Work with the Manager in assigning projects when applicable to the Specialist and Associates in Member Services and provide feedback regarding operational activities to the Manager.
  • Database reporting: coordinates all internal and external Personify report requests, including new member reports for the AUA website.
  • Projects: works on all other department projects and programs as assigned.

Quality Coordinator

  • Develop, maintain, and update technical specifications for measures, documentation for data collection, measure development methodology, and reporting measures. Provide support for testing the validity and reliability of new and existing measures contained in the AQUA Registry.
  • Coordinate submission of measures through NQF endorsement, as appropriate, and to CMS for inclusion in MIPS reporting.

Statistical Analyst

The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting for a Statistical Analyst.

The Statistical Analyst is responsible for analyzing clinical, health outcome and health workforce data in order to support practice and the profession of urology and improve patient outcomes and public health.The incumbent will analyze primary and secondary data utilizing existing databases from the AUA Quality (AQUA) Registry, AUA annual census, federal government agencies and other health organizations. Sr. Manager, Infrastructure & Security

As part of the Information & Communications Division, the Senior Manager of Infrastructure & Security is responsible for ensuring the security, efficiency and continuous functioning of the association's infrastructure, telecommunications and building systems (e.g., A/V) to meet organization needs. Oversees daily operations and functions of the Network Infrastructure and Support Team. Marketing & Communications Intern

The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care is presently recruiting for two (2) Marketing & Communciations (MarComm) Intern(s). The position(s) is based at the AUA office in Linthicum, MD working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for June and July 2018.

The MarComm intern(s) will support the Marketing & Communications and Patient Education (PE) departments by assisting in the development, planning and implementation of AUA/Foundation projects. The intern will work on a myriad of projects for the MarComm/PE teams to maximize the intern's exposure to various roles and responsibilities within the Marketing & Communications field, and to provide support and assistance to the entire MarComm/PE staff. 

The goal for our summer interns is to expose the student to the breadth of Marketing & Communications, while providing actual work experience in the field of Marketing & Communications. In addition to the projects outlined below, the intern would be included in team meetings (and other project-related meetings) to gain greater exposure to the inner-workings of a business environment.  

Specific projects include, but are not limited to:

I. Assist in Content Development for AUA2019 Website

  • Skills Learned: Content review; copywriting and editing; project management; visual communications.

    • Extract content from the AUA2018 site into Word documents (by page).
    • Review and update for obvious changes (e.g., change "San Francisco" to "Chicago").

Payment Policy Manager

Primary duties include:

  • Analyzes and drafts policy communications: in response to rulemaking such as the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, the Hospital Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgical Centers. Develops comments in areas of reimbursement, quality and practice management and analyzes impact on the practice of urology.
