Neurourology/Urodynamics
The American Urological Association (AUA) and the Urology Care Foundation consider neurourology to be a broad term that includes the education, research and clinical care in the areas of lower urinary track and erectile function. The clinical science of neurourology pertains to the diagnosis and treatment of complex lower urinary tract dysfunction, erectile dysfunction (or impotence) as well as disorders of emission and ejaculation. Urodynamics consists of tests designed to assess bladder and urethral function. These tests are used to evaluate, categorize and treat patients with complex lower urinary tract dysfunction. Urodynamics is an integral part of urology and is best performed and taught by urologists who are most knowledgeable in diseases of the urinary tract.
