Affirmative Action

The AUA and the Urology Care Foundation believe that using race as one of the criteria for admission to institutes of higher learning has led to a more diverse urology workforce and thereby has improved access to patient care. We know that in medicine, in general, and in urology, specifically, diverse patient populations seek culturally similar physicians. To that end, we support measures that help expand the size and diversity of the urology workforce for those of all races, colors, genders, religions, ages, national origins, sexual orientation and disabilities. A strong, diverse urology workforce benefits patients and strengthens the urology community.
