Productive Work Environment

The American Urological Association (AUA) and the Urology Care Foundation are committed to promoting a productive work environment that is free from discrimination, harassment or disruptive activity. As such, neither the AUA nor Urology Care Foundation will tolerate verbal or physical conduct by an employee, member, vendor or other that discriminates, harasses, disrupts or unreasonably interferes with another's work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment.

No form of discrimination or harassment will be tolerated based on a person's age, race, color, religion, gender identity and expression, disability, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances.

The AUA and the Urology Care Foundation are dedicated to ensuring the fulfillment of this policy and encourage medical schools, residency and fellowship programs, as well as academic and private practice groups to develop explicit procedures for providing education about discrimination, harrassment and to assure accountability to the principle of equal opportunity, compensation and advancement.

Where such policies do not exist or have not been followed, all medical workplaces and institutions are encouraged to create strict and explicit policies to deal with discrimation and harassment through internal mechanisms that include appropriate disciplinary action following due process.

The revision above combined the following two policy statements into one statement:

  • Gender Discrimination and Sexual Harassment
  • Productive Work Environment

Board of Directors, October 2018 (Revised)
